I need a replacement for the key fob, any suggestions.

 

Surveying the recent threads on this, there are 3 schools of thought.
Dealer
Ebay
Alibaba.

 

I just bought 2 cheapies from Ebay,

Better quality than my old ones.

Chromed metal rather than chromed plastic.

I suspect my old ones were not genuine. (2007 XK is new to me.)

With your 2007 you need to choose a fob based on your VIN. Part way through the model year the fob technology changed (IIRC, from single frequency to dual frequency), so if you get the wrong type, it won’t work with your car.
Search this forum, you’ll find the VIN split so you can get the right type.

 

Even if you get the correct type of Smartkey (single channel or multi channel) and it works to unlock/lock your doors/trunk, it still might not work in the center console emergency slot. If that happens, you could have a problem.
