Default Rotate shift knob Series 1

This may be a dumb question but when I bought my Series 1 the “cue ball” shift knob was installed upside down. I’d like to rotate it 180 degrees but don’t know if it’s screwed on or has some sort of retaining clip. I’ve tried rotating it by hand but it’s on very tight and doesn’t rotate counterclockwise. Can anyone help me here?

Default shfit knob may have a lock nut

Here's a shift lever.. it looks like there is a lock nut underneath?? Try wrapping some rubber/synthetic shelf liner around the ball to protect it and have at it with pliers. It may be hard to get penetrating oil in there (PB blaster) but you can try.
