Default Series 2 console removal

Any tips on removing the center console on series 2 roadster and replacing the rubber and leather gearshift gaiters?

A lot will depend on the condition of your existing console material...If it is going to be re-used, and not recovered, you will want to mask the area in front of the gearshift console, before you remove the radio console, as it is really tight on top of the gearshift console.....(I used masking tape)...
You will also want to use tape when putting it back on.
The seats have to come out , to get access to the seat-belt eyelets , that are screwed into the sides of the tunnel...Those eyelets will have a large "doughnut" spacer that will also have to be removed ...You will probably need a prybar or large screwdriver , to turn the eylets.
There may also be screws in the lower front of the console, that hold in the sides of the
console.
After the radio console comes out, and the shift knob is off, it is very tricky to get the center console over the hand brake and the shift lever at the same time....
You will probably have to have the gear shift in 3rd gear...
While you are in there, check to make sure that your handbrake switch (located at the base of the lever), is in good working condition....

Thanks Edward.
Pretty much what I thought.
Thanks for tip about masking tape. Console is in very good shape except for the gearlever boot and gaiter. Would be a shame to damage it.
