Default Series II 2+2 B pillar chrome

I am getting the car ready for painting. I have most of the chrome out. I removed the back rear swing out windows. There is a chrome piece attached to the B pillar. See Picture. Does anyone know how to remove that?

Thanks

Maybe look for screws at the side that are normally covered by something else like a door seal or the rear side window hinge. If no joy look at the back of it if you can.

Hi Gjbacci,
I have a 68 FHC with a similar B pillar. If it is the same (and I really think it is) the chrome piece in the photo is not a chrome cover, it is the B pillar. It has securing screws at the top and bottom that on my car are covered by the rubber seal. The chrome piece should have two tabs that point towards the rear of the car. If I remember correctly there is one screw on the bottom tab and two screws on the top. When I removed the B pillars on my car, there were spacer shims between the top tab and the Unser side of the roof directly under the rain gutter. Make sure you count and mark the shims, and keep them together with the corresponding B pillars.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Bill.

Thanks to all that suggested a solution. I was thrown off by the picture in “the usual's” parts list. They show this chrome piece having foots on the top and bottom that screw into something. Now that I have solved the puzzle, I can tell you that the 2+2 is built different and that picture is inaccurate. I am suspecting that is the piece for the FHC.

For the benefit of those who may do this after me her is the scoop.

There is a cover on the inside of the B pillar that priors off. It is held on by two metal tabs. Here is what it looks like once removed

Once that is off you see the structural B pillar that has 4 holes in the back with 5/16” screw holding this piece in place. Some black goop is used for sealing between the chrome piece and the B pillar. This is what the piece looks like once removed. Nothing like the parts picture.

Gjbacci,
Glad to see that you were able to figure out what to do to remove the B pillar chrome cover. Also thank you for posting the photos showing how the 2+2 differs from the FHC. I am sure your photos will help someone else in the forum.
Keep us posted on how the car turns out after the paint job.
Bill.

Obviously Jaguar designers weren' thinking of ease of assembly (and disassembly of course !!), when they designed the car !

Love to help. Unfortunately by car is in the body shop until May for the repaint. If you still need it in the spring I will take pictures.
