Default Still have original tires on my XKE - help

Believe me, I have searched high and low. am looking for 3/8" narrow white walls for a series III 2+2 XKE. I found a BFG at 215/7/15...will this fit??
Please respond ASAP, 43 year old tires make me nervous!

How about these?

185HR15 Universal Sport 5/8"WW

I think 185/15 was the original size.

The 215/70x15 would be a tight squeeze on your original 5" wide wheels

Thanks Doug, but I feel the 5/8" will be too wide, really want 3/8"

I agree, but your choices are very limited :-)

If you can do without a white stripe then your choices broaden a bit. But, then again....the narrow white stripe looks great on many E-Types...so I understand your dilemma.

Try Coker tire, or Universal tires, they make tires for the older cars, the 3/8"might be a custom item $$, better off 5/8" if $$ an issue.

In looking at the pic again I really wonder if it's a 5/8" stripe. It really looks narrower than than. It might be 3/8" and the listing/text is a typographical error

Longstone Tyres carry a range of rubber for E Types + many other classic/vintage cars.

Thanks all!!
I tried universal tire, and went under 185R15 rather than 205/70/15 and their it was!! I ill call them on Monday to verify this tire.

Other sites all seem to have a variety of tires, but no one else has/had the specific size I want with a narrow white stripe, this one 'might' be it?

I also found Diamond Back tires, that might be able make the tire I am looking for, I will be checking into them also.

The original poster has a S3 V12 E-Type, so the quoted information is not correct. The original tires on the V12 were E70VR-15 (which translates to 205/70-15 in current terminology), carried on 6J wheels (i.e., 6" wide). Do NOT install 185HR15 tires on V12 wheels (those are S1 6-cylinder spec tires). Most likely, even 215/70-15 would fit on the V12. I have 205/70-15 on my S1, on 6" alloy wheels, and they fit OK with the rear bump stops reversed, so 215's on a S3 probably are not a stretch. There are also lower aspect ratios that *might* work: 215/65-15 or 225/60-15. But do pre-verify since these cars are rather "individualistic".

As for driving on 43-year old tires, you are correct - be very afraid, no matter how good the tires look.

However, the original query was about white-wall tires. That really limits the availability. However, I did spot this Coker tire that might be just what you are looking for:

Coker BF Goodrich Silvertown, P 215 /70R15, Radial, 3/8 in. Whitewall
