Default Xke repair dallas tx area

I need a reliable, fair priced, good repair shop in the Dallas area. I bought 2 1974 xke that have been sitting for years. So far the carbs have been rebuilt and tanks Cleaned.

Nick,
I just bought a '66 E-Type OTS. The person who helped me find it is a JCNA officer and owns a Jaguar restoration shop in Grand Prairie, near Dallas. The company's name is VCR owned by Richard Wright. His phone: (214) 718-0607.

WOW! Best wishes Nick, but putting aside panel work for the moment (IMHO, the most serious weakness of these cars), if you are relying solely on a "pay as you go" professional repair shop to make good your 42yo E-Types, you are in for an expensive ride. Are you not able to DIY?

By way of example, I am confident you will have to replace maybe all the brakes . . . not just rotors and pads because of wear, but also all metal and flexible lines, sleeve and rebuild m/cyl and rekit together with all slave pistons. The reality, irrespective of road miles, perhaps worse in cars that have been cossetted away, is that the hygroscopic brake fluid has accumulated sufficient moisture to rust the system internally. I once drove a friend's pristine E-Type, then about 20yrs old but bought new and with just 5,000M on the clock. The brake pedal felt like treading in freshly poured concrete and I couldn't get out of it quickly enough.

Actually, the E-Type offers easier access than most Jaguars to individual sub-systems . . . so, by using resources and advice here, much can be undertaken in a modestly equipped home garage, provided it is dry, lockable and warm enough to inspire working . . . attacking just one sub-system at a time, much is achievable with an added bonus . . . doing it yourself will unleash an extraordinary amount of skill and knowledge as well as re-directing money towards much needed parts.

Best wishes,

Ken

Hey, I recognize that guy in the picture. Welcome Clark. Looking forward to seeing your Jaguar at a show in the spring.
