Hi all,

I am looking at buying a classic jag, most likely an E-Type, but open to other suggestions. I was just wondering though, whats the average amount of money spent on these cars per year? I dont want to buy one and then be spending wayy more money than i can afford!

There is no such thing as an average, because you just don't know what is going to occur. I bought my 2nd EType, a S1 3.8 OTS.... the engine was rebuilt and it was a solid driver. Guess what, the guy that rebuilt the engine had no idea what he was doing and it blew in the first year.. so the first year cost my $12k dollars US. Then, while I was in there, why not install a modern 5-speed transmission... there goes another $4.5k. And, since the engine is out, why not soda blast the engine bay and repaint it to perfection... $3k... oh.,.. seems silling to put the suspension back in without nickel plating the A arms and getting new bushings and shocks and... ok another $1k... and so on... Once sorted, I have spent NOTHING but oil changes and filters for several years, but I spent a lot in that FIRS year to get to that point. Tom
