Driver insight needed...Have XJL--How does ride compare in an F-Pace
Good afternoon All,
I hope someone or some-many can provide their experience on this. I have been a long time Jaguar owner--4 XJs through the years and an F-Type R. I have always loved the XJs on the highway and my wife and I do a great deal of highway driving. Our current XJL is a 2017 and my wife, who is not as forgiving of Jaguars lackluster technology, really wants to "upgrade" to a vehicle (which she agrees "must" be a Jaguar) with better Carplay technology. I could go for a 2019 XJ50 (which I believe solves the tech issue), but I do love the look and performance of the F-Pace. Beyond the very obvious Luxury Sedan vs. SUV difference. Is anyone able to provide some user experience in relation to comfort and features of a newer F-Pace compared to the late model XJs? Thank you in advance.

It's a whole world of difference.
XJ = Luxury
F-Pace = XUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) AWD (All Wheel Drive)
You'll definitely feel the difference but you will soon adjust within days upon driving the F-Pace. I drove the F-Pace once but it seems taller than my XF when it comes to ground clearance.

I'd agree on the characterization - it's much more firm. I personally think that's more comfortable and a better driving experience - but if you're really looking for the 'sitting on a soft dog' feel of the XJ, this won't be in. Drive it to see. I'd suggest driving the F Pace and the Velar - same chassis and basic capabilities, but Velar is designed for luxury comfort (air suspension etc) and will drive much more like an XJ. F Pace is sportier and firmer - a better driving experience.
If you're looking at F Pace I'd suggest 2021 and after as it it received a meaningful facelift then and the interior quality feels much better - plus it has a much bigger screen for carplay. 21 / 22 SVR is an outstanding drive!

We have both an F-Pace, as well as an XJ-L in our "fleet", and I pretty much agree with the above comments. Due to the stiffer springing, as well as the shorter wheelbase, the F-Pace is stiffer riding, but corners well, for an SUV. The one thing O don't like about the F-Pace is the increased ride height. The "wheel gap" of the fender openings looks goofy, and it's more difficult to "climb up" into.
I don't understand the increased ride height.....like I'm going to spend $64K for this vehicle, and take it "off roading"????
