Elements such as slender full-LED headlights, forged 22-inch wheels and short front overhang carry the design vision of the C-X17 concept through to production.

The all-new F-PACE seats five occupants in absolute comfort. The interior is a perfect blend of premium materials and finishes, exquisite detailing, luxuries such as heated,electrically-reclining rear seats, and cutting-edge technologies including the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system and 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster.*

"By remaining absolutely true to our design principles the all-new F-PACE is immediately recognizable as a Jaguar. It offers all of the interior space you would expect - and more -*but because of our disciplined approach to surfaces, proportions, and purity of line,*we have designed what I consider to be the most balanced, most attractive vehicle in its class"

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar*

The Lightweight Aluminium Architecture gave the design and engineering teams the ideal starting point. It was created from the outset as a modular structure, so the wheels can be positioned exactly where they are needed to deliver the proportions, dynamics, and practicality essential for a performance crossover.*

The wheelbase and track are not shared with any other Jaguar. At 4,731mm long and with a 2,874mm wheelbase, the all-new F-PACE offers the sleek profile and short front overhang characteristic of Jaguar design together with an exceptionally spacious interior.

Rear knee-room is class-leading and the luggage compartmentvolume is an astonishing 650-litres.

The light, stiff body structure comprises 80 per cent aluminium, and is the only aluminium-intensive monocoque in the segment.Additional weight savings come from the composite tailgate and magnesium for parts such as the cross-car beam.*

The result is that the rear-wheel drive 180PS diesel manual transmission model weighs as little as 1,665kg and achieves CO2 emissions of just 129g/km. With the 380PSsupercharged V6 petrol engine from the F-TYPE under its sculptedaluminium bonnet, the all-new F-PACE can accelerate from 0-60mph injust 5.1 seconds before reaching an electronically-limited topspeed of 155mph.*

The body's high torsional stiffness enables the F-TYPE-derived double wishbone front suspension and sophisticated Integral Link rear suspension to perform even better. Together with Torque Vectoring as standard and an Electric Power Assisted Steering system tuned to give the best possible feel and response, the all-new F-PACE sets the benchmark for ride and handling.*

Even the entry-level model benefits from monotube dampers as standard, but for even better ride and handling the electronically-controlled Adaptive Dynamics system measures body and wheel movement 100 and 500 times a second respectively, ensuring optimum damping forces in all conditions.*

For the most enthusiastic drivers there's Configurable Dynamics:first used in the F-TYPE, this feature allows individual settings for the throttle, automatic transmission, steering, and, wherefitted, the Adaptive Dynamics system.*

Using state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamics simulations and applying lessons learnt from the XE and all-new XF, the all-new F-PACE has a drag coefficient of only 0.34, helping to reduce fuel consumption and improve refinement. The vehicle is also engineeredfor exceptionally low lift and excellent lift balancefront-to-rear, resulting in better steering feel and stability athigher speeds.*

"The all-new F-PACE is a Jaguar that customers around the world demanded that we make. The targets we set are among the most challenging we've ever had to deliver but I'm proud to say that theall-new F-PACE meets or exceeds every one of them.*

"This is a performance crossover with outstanding dynamics yet also delivers a smooth, quiet ride. The F-TYPE-inspired design combines dramatic looks with a spacious interior and an exceptionally large luggage compartment. Together with our all-new infotainment system, our most advanced all-wheel drive system and an outstanding range of active safety technologies, the all-new F-PACE makes every journey a better, more rewarding experience."

Kevin Stride, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar F-PACE*

The all-new F-PACE's torque on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD)system is Jaguar's most sophisticated yet, and has the highest torque capacity. It features the advanced, in-house control system first developed for F-TYPE AWD: Intelligent Driveline Dynamics(IDD). IDD preserves rear-wheel drive agility and handling character but can seamlessly transfer torque to the front wheels to exploit the performance benefits of extra traction, on all surfaces and in all weathers.

Adaptive Surface Response (ASR), developed from Land Rover's patented, award-winning Terrain Response technology, makes the AWD system even more effective in challenging conditions. Integrated into Jaguar Drive Control, ASR identifies the type of surface and optimises the mapping of the powertrain and Dynamic Stability Control system. First launched in the all-new XF, ASR has been enhanced by a third mode designed for deep snow and gravel

Another world-class technology developed for adverse conditions is All Surface Progress Control (ASPC). To make the most of the available grip, ASPC automatically controls the throttle and the brakes, enabling the vehicle to pull away smoothly: the driver justh as to steer. ASPC functions between 3.6km/h and 30km/h, and the driver selects the desired speed using the cruise control switches.ASPC is compatible with rear- and all-wheel drive.

For drivers who want similar results but still want to use the accelerator pedal, there's Low-Friction Launch (LFL). This functionus es a very progressive throttle map, making the vehicle easier to control, and the all-new F-PACE is the first Jaguar to offer it.

The all-new F-PACE has been engineered to satisfy the moststringent safety standards worldwide and provides exceptionallevels of occupant and pedestrian protection. The standard ofactive safety is just as high, thanks to a suite of advanced driverassistance systems. The state-of-the-art stereo camera at the heart of the Autonomous Emergency Braking system now features a pedestrian detection function - a Jaguar-first. The stereo camera also enables Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, an Intelligent Speed Limiter, and Driver Condition Monitor systems.*

Key information such as vehicle speed and speed limits can be projected directly into the driver's line of sight by the laser head-up display. The high contrast colour images can also show cruise control settings and turn-by-turn navigation instructions.Compared to conventional systems, laser technology is smaller and lighter and the images remain clear even in bright sunlight.*

Infotainment and connectivity technology is just as advanced. The premium InControl Touch Pro system is based around a 10.2-inch touchscreen, with a powerful quad-core processor and solid-state drive, and runs on ultra-fast Ethernet. The user interface is intuitive, the graphics sharp and incredibly responsive. The navigation system can save you time by learning your commute, offers true door-to-door guidance and can even advise others of your arrival time. Navigation can also be shown full-screen - in 3D- in the 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster.*

The all-new F-PACE also brings the world debut of Jaguar's Activity Key. A waterproof, shockproof wristband with an integrated transponder, this segment-first, wearable technology supports active lifestyles because it allows the key fob to be securely locked inside the vehicle - invaluable if you're going surfing, for example, or kayaking.*

Locking the all-new F-PACE using the Activity Key will disable any keyfobs left inside. Activity Key works on the same RF frequencies as the other keys and is used to lock and unlock the vehicle by holding it in close proximity to the J of the Jaguar lettering on the tailgate. Activity Key has no battery, so you never have to worry about changing it.*

First Edition: Concept car design for the real world*

To celebrate the launch of the all-new F-PACE, a special model called the First Edition will be available in strictly limited numbers - just 2,000 worldwide. Powered exclusively by the 380PS supercharged V6 petrol and 300PS V6 diesel engines, the First Edition is distinguished by two unique metallic paint colours -Caesium Blue and Halcyon Gold; clear references to the breakthroughC-X17 concepts unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt and Guangzhou MotorShows. Customers can also choose from Rhodium Silver and Ultimate Black. Further highlights include 22-inch Double Helix 15-spoke wheels with Grey finish and contrast inserts, Adaptive Dynamics,full-LED headlights, Gloss Black fender vents and a sliding panoramic roof.*

Inside, the Windsor soft-grain leather seats in Light Oyster feature twin-needle stitching and an embossed houndstooth pattern influenced by the C-X17's award-winning interior. The traditional Jaguar craftsmanship blends seamlessly with the configurable 10-colour ambient lighting, state-of-the-art InControl Touch Pro infotainment system and the 12.3-inch HD virtual instrumen tcluster.*

Range summary

The all-new F-PACE range will consist of: F-PACE Pure, F-PACE Prestige, F-PACE Portfolio,
F-PACE R-Sport, F-PACE S, F-PACE First Edition

The powertrain range will consist of: 180PS 2.0-litre diesel manual RWD/ AWD and automatic AWD; 240PS 2.0-litre petrol automatic RWD; 300PS 3.0-litre diesel automatic AWD; 340PS and 380PS 3.0-litre petrol automatic AWD*

The all-new F-PACE is manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull Plant alongside the Jaguar XE sports saloon.*

DESIGN

The all-new F-PACE combines F-TYPE influences and outstanding packaging to deliver unmistakable Jaguar presence and unrivaled practicality

Proof of concept: The C-X17 made real

The all-new F-PACE is a vehicle of design firsts. It's Jaguar's first performance crossover, the first aluminium-intensive model in the class and first among rivals for boot volume, cabin width, rear kneeroom and ease of rear access. The all-new F-PACE packs everyday usability into a concept car body.

The all-new F-PACE remains true to the aesthetic of the award-winning C-X17 concept, and they were both designed by the same teams - this enabled purer design expression. Thanks to the flexibility of the Lightweight Aluminium Architecture, the designers could work hand in hand with the engineers to determine the key dimensions such as the wheelbase and track, delivering the proportions and elegant lines that distinguish it instantly as a Jaguar.*

"We designed the all-new F-PACE to be first and foremost a Jaguar. That's why it has exciting proportions, a dynamic stance, pure surfaces and a beautiful sensuality about it. Its progressive, purposeful appearance has clearly been influenced by the F-TYPE.*

"Every Jaguar should draw your eye from 200 metres away and I believe the all-new F-PACE's presence on the road is second to none in this class. The Lightweight Aluminium Architecture gave us the design freedom to create a car with latent poise - a svelte car with attitude.*

"It looks assertive yet not aggressive. But it's also versatile and equipped with real-world answers to everyday questions. The all-new F-PACE is an all-weather, all-surface Jaguar sports car, life-proofed for five people and their belongings."

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar*

The influence of the F-TYPE is instantly apparent at the rear, from the graphics of the LED tail-lights to the muscular rear haunches. The rakish angle of the rear screen belies the unrivaled load space behind it. The F-TYPE's influence extends to the all-new F-PACE's silhouette, with its sleek roofline and short front overhang, reflecting the vehicle's agile responses. The fender vents are another familiar Jaguar design feature. The large diameter wheels - especially the range of forged 22-inch designs -enhance the purposeful stance.

The taut surfaces and clean lines of the body sides - formed from a single sheet of aluminium - reflect Jaguar's world-leading expertise in designing, engineering and manufacturing vehicles using this lightweight material. Perfectly balancing form and function, the geometry of every pillar in the upper canopy has been optimized to the nearest 0.1mm to ensure the best possible visibility for all occupants.*

The bold, upright front grille is not only assertive, reinforcing the all-new F-PACE's all-surface potential, but also contributes to the all-new F-PACE's aerodynamic efficiency. The power bulge extends the full length of the aluminium bonnet to emphasize the vehicle's performance credentials.*

The sleek headlights, available with adaptive full-LED technology, feature daytime running lights with Jaguar's signature'J' Blade graphic. The slender LED fog lights were developed in-house and use TV screen optics and light tubes to deliver superior packaging and an exceptionally smooth, homogeneous light source.

First class cabin: Space, luxury and refinement*

The all-new F-PACE is a true five-seater with a spacious, luxurious interior featuring the premium materials, craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail that that gives every Jaguar its, unique sense of occasion.*

The 'Sports Command' driving position provides an authoritative,confidence-giving view out but retains a sports car feel. Jaguar's,cosseting sports seats are shaped to provide exceptional comfort, and support and are available with 14-way adjustment, heating and cooling, and refinements such as Windsor soft-grain leather, contrasting twin-needle stitching and embossed headrests.*

The dramatic curve of the front door top rolls into the fascia and enhances the cockpit-like feel. The unrivaled range of contemporary trim options includes authentic metal finishes such as Meshed Aluminium and beautiful crafted veneers such as Satin Grey Ash.

The sweeping instrument panel features two large, deeply-hooded analogue dials and a central TFT display, or a 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster offering a choice of four visual themes and a full-screen 3D navigation display. The infotainment touchscreen, which measures 10.2-inches with the premium InControl Touch Pro system, falls perfectly to hand. Ambient lighting, especially with the 10-colour option, enhances the sense of luxury.

The row-two experience is equally impressive. The long, 2,874mm wheelbase makes access to and from the rear seats easy, while the seat base was designed to allow passengers to sit further outboard, offering maximum space when seating three occupants. The positioning of the seats, together with the height of the beltline, means that even small children enjoy a good view out. The optional four-zone climate control system with B-pillar vents ensures even greater comfort.

The 40:20:40 split seat back is available with an electric recline function, and despite the dynamic roofline, headroom is maintained throughout the full six degrees of movement. Months werespent refining the shape of the headliner to extract every last millimetre of clearance, right down to using magnets as fixings -these are more compact than traditional fasteners.*

Luxury and spaciousness are matched by the interior's versatility. The door pockets can accommodate large bottles, while the storage spaces neatly scalloped into the sides of the center console were designed around smartphones and feature non-slip rubber inserts at the bottom. The console also features twin cupholders, which can be hidden when not in use by the optional sliding gloss black cover.

The cubby box offers a 12V socket and up to two USB ports. Where fitted, the dual-purpose HDMI/ MHL port enables occupants to stream media including video from the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system to devices such as tablets, and playback is controlled using the device itself. The rear console can feature up to two more 12V sockets or two additional USB ports. On most models, cupholders are integrated into the rear armrest

The relentless focus on package efficiency also means that the all-new F-PACE has an exceptional luggage compartment: 650-litres. The space is made all the more usable by its 1,255mm width - more than enough to accommodate two full-size golf bags, for example, or four large suitcases. The rear seats allow through-loading and when folded flat, the luggage compartment offers up to 1,740-litres of space.

The clever packaging is enhanced still further by the low loading height and the flat floor. The floor itself is reversible: one side is carpeted, the other rubberized - making it ideal for sports equipment or pets. The parcel shelf can be stored below the boot floor, and so too can the optional mesh load guard. Alternatively, there is room beneath the floor for a full-sized spare wheel.*

The lightweight composite tailgate benefits from optional power opening and closing functions, and gesture control for hands-free operation: all the customer has to do is make a smooth kicking motion. Sensors recognize this movement and will trigger the opening or closing request.*

No physical packaging bucks were used during the all-newF-PACE's development. Its remarkable package efficiency istestament to the accuracy of the design models, Jaguar Land Rover'sstate-of-the-art virtual cave, and the close working relationshipbetween the design and engineering teams.*

INFOTAINMENT AND CONNECTIVITY

Whether you want to start the engine using a smartphoneapp, have a navigation system that can tell your contacts whenyou'll arrive for your meeting, connect up to eight devices usingthe Wi-Fi hotspot, or just stream your favourite playlists - theall-new F-PACE delivers*

InControl Touch: Powerful functionality, intuitive touse*

The all-new F-PACE comes with Jaguar's InControl Touchinfotainment system as standard. Featuring an 8-inch capacitivetouchscreen, intuitive user interface and crisp clear graphics, itsupports smartphone and tablet gestures such as 'swipe' to movefrom one page to another, and 'drag' to scroll through maps.*

Entering addresses is quicker and easier than with previoussystems and routes are calculated faster thanks to SD card storageof navigation data. Users can zoom in and out of maps using 'pinch' and'pan' gestures - nothing could be simpler or more intuitive.*

Even when there's no GPS signal the system can still help you tostay on track: dead-reckoning functionality analyses data from thevehicle's sensors to accurately predict the vehicle's location.

Using the dataconnection to access location-based features adds another dimensionto the system's capability. Search for a destination and the systemwill check if there's sufficient fuel to complete the journey. Ifnot, this will be flagged and filling stations on the route thatare within range are shown on the map: tapping on one of them isall it takes to add it as a waypoint.*

It's also possible to share your destination, current locationand estimated time of arrival (ETA) with others via email or textmessage. If your ETA slips, the system can automatically follow-upwith an update.*

Commute Mode learns your daily drive so that it can offeralternative routes to avoid congestion using historical andreal-time traffic information. Approach Mode adds a 360°interactive view of your destination alongside the map display whenyou're some 200m distant - it can even show you where the nearestavailable car parking spaces are and then direct you to them.*

And a dedicated companion app for iOS and Android devicesenables true door-to-door route planning and guidance and can helpyou to complete your journey on public transport or on foot.*

For those who just want to enjoy the music, InControl Touch Prooffers a choice of two digital audio systems developed withrenowned British experts Meridian, including a 17-speaker, 825Wsurround sound system which delivers ideal sound reproduction withbenchmark low levels of distortion.*

The experience is enriched with Gracenote images stored on theSSD drive - 10GB of its 60GB capacity is dedicated to media storage- and functions such as 'Play more like this' which automaticallycompiles playlists, or Music Queue, which makes it easy to searchfor and add songs, albums or artists to a music queue the currenttrack is still playing.*

Made for the future: Next-generation architecture*

The modules within InControl Touch Pro are connected usingultra-fast Ethernet. This is most advanced network technologyavailable and is more than five times faster than competingtechnologies. Jaguar is one of the very first vehicle manufacturersto use it.*

Ethernet's main advantage is its incredible bandwidth: up to1Gb/ second. The potential to carry such massive amounts of data, together with the performance of the quad-core processor and thesolid-state drive means that InControl Touch Pro will be able tooffer even greater functionality in the future.*

All the right connections: The world of InControl*

InControl Apps enables drivers to access apps on Android andApple smartphones using the all-new F-PACE's InControl Touch andInControl Touch Pro infotainment systems. After connecting thedevice using a USB cable and the dedicated port in the centreconsole, compatible apps will be shown on the vehicle touchscreen.Optimised for in-vehicle use to reduce driver distraction, therange of approved third-party apps is growing all the time.*

The all-new F-PACE can also function as a Wi-Fi hotspot, and upto eight devices can be connected at any one time. An integratedSIM card and the vehicle's antenna are used to give the moststable, reliable signal - up to a third stronger than asmartphone.*

Drivers can use iOS and Android smartphones and the InControlRemote App to connect with the all-new F-PACE from anywhere in theworld. Remote Essentials functionality can show if the vehicle islocked or not and if any of the doors or windows are open. It canalso show how much fuel is in the tank, where the vehicle was lastparked, and warnings such as low windscreen washer fluidlevels.*

Remote Premium goes much further, enabling the driver to usetheir phone to lock or unlock the car, receive an alert if thealarm goes off, and reset the alarm. The beep and flash feature canhelp drivers to find the car - ideal for large multi-storycarparks.

For the ultimate in comfort and convenience, Remote Premium canalso be used to start the engine remotely on models equipped withautomatic transmissions, enabling the climate control system topre-condition the cabin before the start of a journey. The drivercan set the desired temperature and then, at the press of a button, the engine will run for up to 30 minutes.*

InControl Secure enhances security by providing proactivevehicle monitoring and tracking. Should anybody break into thevehicle or move it without permission, the monitoring centre alertsthe driver and will work with law enforcement agencies to locateand recover the car as quickly as possible. Even if the vehicle isstolen using the key, the driver can use the InControl Remote Appto alert the centre.*

If the vehicle is involved in a collision which triggers theairbags, InControl Protect will automatically notify the emergencyservices and provide the GPS location. The occupants can alsomanually trigger an emergency call by pressing a dedicated buttonin the roof console.*

ARCHITECTURE AND BODY STRUCTURE

Designed and engineered for exceptional on-road dynamicsand all-surface, all-weather ability, the all-new F-PACE featuresan intelligent mix of aluminium, advanced steels and composites todeliver an inherently light, stiff body structure*

A class of its own: The only aluminium-intensive vehiclein the segment*

The effectiveness of aluminium as the core element in Jaguar'slightweighting strategy is well-proven. This material is usedextensively throughout every F-TYPE, XE, XF and XJ because it isfundamental to exceptional performance, agility, refinement andefficiency.*

The all-new F-PACE is the latest model to benefit from Jaguar'sworld-leading expertise in designing and manufacturing aluminiummonocoques. Using the Lightweight Aluminium Architecture as thebasis, the all-new F-PACE features more aluminium - 80 per cent -than any competitor. Together with features such as the compositetailgate and magnesium cross-car beam and front-end carrier, thismeans that the rear-wheel drive 180PS diesel manual transmissionmodel weighs as little as 1,665kg, enabling benchmark fuelefficiency and CO2 emissions figures of 57.7mpg and129g/km respectively.*

The highly optimised structure, which also features advancedhigh strength steels in areas such as the rear floor, is joinedusing 2,616 self-piercing rivets, 72.8 metres of structuraladhesive and 566 spot-welds. The resulting torsional stiffnessmatches that of all-new XF and, together with the advancedsuspension systems, is key to the all-new F-PACE's unrivalled blendof ride, handling and refinement - on all surfaces.*

The all-new F-FACE is the third model developed using theLightweight Aluminium Architecture and features the highestaluminium content yet, of which almost a third is the RC5754 alloy, made predominantly from recycled material and unique to Jaguar LandRover.*

Unlike platforms, which impose significant design constraintsdue to the high number of shared parts, the Lightweight AluminiumArchitecture enables greater differentiation - many of the mainelements of the body-in-white which determine key vehiclecharacteristics are not common between model lines.*

So the high-pressure diecast aluminium front suspension turrets, for example, have been redesigned to enable the desired groundclearance and suspension travel. The front crossmembers are largerto make them even stiffer, and to support the all-new F-PACE'selevated, Sports Command driving position.*

The subframes and subframe mounting points have also beenfurther developed so that they contribute to greater globalstiffness without the weight and packaging penalties that come bysimply adding local body reinforcements.*

These measures ensure that the all-new F-PACE delivers not onlybenchmark vehicle dynamics but also exceptional luggage compartmentwidth - 1,255mm - and volume: 650-litres. And wherever possible, every bracket in the body has been optimised so that it contributesto body stiffness as well as performing its primary functions.*

The same obsession to detail also meant that Jaguar's design andengineering teams were able to maintain the purity of line, surfaceand proportion of the all-new F-PACE's precursor - the C-X17concept - as well as delivering on demanding targets for weight andpackaging.*

The rear headers, for example, had to satisfy the conflictingrequirements of maximum stiffness while at the same time maximisingheadroom and supporting the low roofline. The rear structure had tobe extremely rigid to satisfy the global body stiffness targets yetat the same time provide the widest, deepest aperture possible forthe tailgate.*

Forming the deep haunches in the bodysides was the greatestchallenge because of the geometrical complexity and because of thedepth of draw. A visible joint would have made these stampingssimpler to make but such compromise was deemed unacceptable. As aresult of advances in the manufacturing process and in the designof the tooling, the form was achieved without visible joints andtakes Jaguar's aluminium expertise to new extremes.*

Safer by design: Improved protection, less weight*

The all-new F-PACE has been designed and engineered for the moststringent global crash test requirements. Achieving these goalswhile at the same time reducing vehicle weight is a greatchallenge, but one the Jaguar has been able to solve.*

Ultra high-strength steels, including hot-formed Boron steels, are commonly used to reinforce the B-pillars and mitigate theeffects of side impacts, but the high density of these materialsmakes such parts heavy. So through extensive design optimisation ofthe aluminium pressings used to make the B-pillars themselves andthe upper body structure, this steel was engineered out, enablingweight savings while maintaining the structural integrity of theoccupant safety cell.*

The high level of occupant protection afforded by the all-newF-PACE's safety cell is complemented by a comprehensive restraintssystem including six airbags: driver and passenger airbags, row-oneseat-mounted side airbags, and curtain airbags spanning rows oneand two.*

Pedestrian protection: A renewed focus*

Just as much consideration was given to pedestrian impactprotection. Given that the design of crossover vehicles isdifferent to that of saloons - notably because of the higher bonnetline - the systems which contribute to pedestrian safety have to bedeveloped differently.*

So the front-end carrier has been designed to be stiff enough tomeet all functional requirements and durable enough to meetoff-road requirements, yet in the event of an impact with apedestrian it will deform in a controlled manner. This ensures thatenergy is absorbed progressively, mitigating the risk of seriousinjury.

The form of thealuminium bonnet has also been shaped by pedestrian protection. Oneinherent advantage is the greater clearance between the bonnetsurface and the engine, giving more room to absorb the energy andavoid contact with hard points in the engine compartment. Thebonnet skin was also made thinner - which also saved weight - whilethe bonnet inner is tailored to spread the load moreeffectively.*

Further detailed optimisation saw the bonnet edge reshaped andwindscreen wiper mechanism repositioned to improve pedestrianimpact performance still further. In all, some 15,000 hours ofengineering work and 100,000 CPU hours of simulation were spentduring development.

CHASSIS*

No compromises. The all-new F-PACE embodies Jaguardynamics DNA in a performance crossover form, which means benchmarksteering feel and response combined with an unequalled balance ofagility and comfort - on all surfaces*

Agile, direct, responsive*

Everything about the all-new F-PACE has been engineered from theoutset to deliver the driving experience which sets all Jaguarsapart from the competition. The philosophy was not one of adaptingthe core DNA to suit expectations of how a sports crossover couldride and handle. Quite the opposite: Jaguar took everything thatgives its saloons and sports cars class-leading dynamics andapplied them to the all-new F-PACE.*

This uncompromising approach drove demanding targets for thebody's weight, weight distribution, torsional rigidity, andaerodynamics - only with these fundamentals in place can chassissystems truly deliver. Given the ideal starting point by the highstiffness of the Lightweight Aluminium Architecture, the all-newF-PACE also has a long 2,874mm wheelbase, which benefits not onlyride but also dynamics because it helps to put the centre of massright between the axles.

Adddouble-wishbone front and Integral Link rear suspension - the mostadvanced of their type - and a sophisticated Electric PowerAssisted Steering (EPAS) system, the result is a performancecrossover which delivers an unmatched breadth of dynamic capabilityon all surfaces and in all conditions.*

"We develop every Jaguar to offer an unrivalled combination ofagility and responsiveness with exceptional ride and refinement -and the all-new F-PACE is no exception.

"Applying all of the learning from F-TYPE, the steeringreacts immediately, giving a truly connected feel. The doublewishbone and Integral Link suspension offer the ideal balance ofprecise handling and body control, making the all-new F-PACE asrewarding to drive as it is comfortable to be driven in - on anytype of road."
Mike Cross, Chief Engineer of Vehicle Integrity,Jaguar

Proven on F-TYPE, the double-wishbone front suspension designedfor the all-new F-PACE was chosen for the same reasons: itout-performs all other systems. Extremely stiff in camber,double-wishbone suspension allows the front tyres to developlateral force more quickly. This makes the vehicle more agilebecause turn-in is sharper and response to the driver's input atthe steering wheel is felt immediately.*

The other key benefit is superior roll camber gaincharacteristics: the tyre is better able to maintain its contactpatch throughout the suspension's full range of travel, enabling itto generate more grip, and also maintain steering feel.*

Aluminium is used almost exclusively to make the suspension aslight as possible, most notably the front knuckles. The intricate, ribbed design is achieved by forging the components from castblanks: this enables maximum stiffness for minimum weight. Amongthe other enhancements are bonded bushes for the tubular anti-rollbar: as well as better NVH properties these also prevent dirtingress, improving robustness.*

Integral Link: Comfortably ahead*

The result of years of advanced research and development,Integral Link is the most sophisticated and most capable rearsuspension system available and provides unequalled ride, handlingand refinement attributes. Integral Link separates lateral andlongitudinal stiffnesses, enabling the suspension to provide thebest possible comfort without compromising dynamics.*

Bushes which manage longitudinal loads can be made much softerthan would otherwise be possible with conventional multilinksuspensions, enabling excellent energy absorption and therefore asmoother, quieter ride. At the same time, lateral stiffness can befar higher, making the vehicle more responsive. Caster stiffnesscan be increased too, which is felt by the driver as improvedstability when braking.*

The upper links are aluminium forgings, while the lower arm ishollow-cast aluminium - the optimum lightweight solution for thiscomplex part. The springs and dampers are mounted separately, allowing each to be ideally positioned for the forces acting on thesuspension and contributing even more to the all-new F-PACE'sbenchmark dynamics and refinement. This design is also highlyspace-efficient, minimising intrusion into the luggagecompartment.

Variable ratio steering: More precise, moreresponsive*

Every Jaguar is designed to set the class benchmark forsteering. The all-new F-PACE is no exception, and this target drovethe development of every single component between the steeringwheel and the tyre contact patch in order to achieve the precision, response and linearity which define Jaguar steering DNA.*

This whole-vehicle approach and obsession to the smallest detailgives the all-new F-PACE such a responsive, connected feel: turnthe wheel and immediately the vehicle rotates around you; no lag,no delay. It's what makes this performance crossover feel more likea sports car.*

Among the measures taken to achieve this include adding a fifthmounting point for the steering rack, and increasing the rotationalstiffness of the subframe-to-body connections. The rear axle's highlateral stiffness also helps with initial turn-in because lateralforces at the tyre contact patches build very quickly. And theaerodynamics have been developed to give a front: rear lift balancecloser to that of a saloon than a crossover, contributing toimproved feel during high-speed cruising.*

The Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system itself hasevolved too. As well as software tuned with all of the learningtaken from F-TYPE, XE and XF, the all-new F-PACE system alsobenefits from the addition of closed-loop control.Specially-developed algorithms calculate the forces coming backfrom the road and use this information to further refine the levelof assistance, making the steering even more intuitive.**

The EPAS system also benefits from a variable steering ratio -as standard. This is achieved using variable pitch gears on therack bar and fixed pitch gears on the pinion. By changing thecontact point with the rack's gear teeth from the valleys on-centreto the peaks at full lock, the more the driver turns the wheel, themore responsive the steering becomes.*

But EPAS doesn't just improve the driving experience: it alsoimproves fuel efficiency because the motor only draws current whenthe driver turns the steering wheel. This helps to cut consumptionand emissions on the European combined cycle by as much as threeper cent.*

The largest wheels and tyres in the segment: Better allround*

Meticulously engineered and exhaustively tested at locationsaround the world, every wheel and tyre combination offers theoptimum balance of grip, low rolling resistance, comfort anddurability. The all-new F-PACE offers unrivalled choice, from18-inch wheels designed specifically to reduce aerodynamic drag to22-inch wheels which offer the biggest rolling diameter in thesegment.*

The range of 22-inch wheels - unique in this segment - wasdeveloped for the all-new F-PACE by Jaguar Land Rover's SpecialVehicle Operations division. Produced from forged aluminium to makethem lighter and stiffer, they not only help to deliver theconcept-car look of the C-X17 but also contribute to the all-newF-PACE's high levels of on-road dynamics and traction onchallenging surfaces.*

The specially-developed 265/40/R22 tyres not only generateexceptional grip: they were also designed to offer superior comfortand damage resistance. Sidewall height is greater than that of the21-inch offerings from the competition, improving ride and impactabsorption from potholes. And kerb clearance - the distance fromthe edge of the rim to the edge of the sidewall - is alsogreater.

TorqueVectoring: Enhanced agility as standard*

Another technology first developed for F-TYPE and now applied tothe all-new F-PACE is Torque Vectoring. Designed to make thevehicle even more agile, the system can apply finely-meteredbraking to the inner wheels to mitigate understeer during cornerentry, helping the driver to keep the vehicle on the ideal linethrough the turn. The system works predominantly on the inside rearwheel to avoid any corruption of steering feel, and as a resultsystem intervention is virtually transparent to the driver.*

To preserve Jaguar dynamics DNA and make the system as effectiveas possible, the calibration was done in-house, the controller isbespoke, and development was done in parallel with the base chassishandling balance. And because the system enables such fine levelsof wheel control it can also deliver benefits at slower speeds too, such as when driving on mud or snow.*

Adaptive Dynamics and Configurable Dynamics: Ultimatecontrol*

All models feature monotube dampers as standard. Not only dothey contribute to a reduction in unsprung mass but they are alsomore responsive than conventional twin-tube dampers, and thereforeoffer superior ride control.*

Adaptive Dynamics takes this to the next level. By monitoringbody movement 100 times a second and wheel movement 500 times asecond, the system provides continuously variable damping to suitthe conditions, delivering an even more comfortable ride at lowerspeeds and even better handling at higher speeds.*

Configurable Dynamics, first developed for the F-TYPE, enablesthe driver to tailor the vehicle's character by individuallyselecting dynamic or normal modes for the throttle mapping, transmission shift strategy, steering feel and, where fitted, theAdaptive Dynamics system, all using the central touchscreen.

For models equipped with the InControl Touch Pro premiuminfotainment system, drivers also gain the Dynamic-i feature, whichdisplays a stopwatch, g-meter and a map of accelerator pedalresponse.*

POWERTRAIN

From the 129g/km efficiency of the four-cylinderIngenium diesel to the power and throttle response of the 380PSsupercharged V6 from the F-TYPE, every engine provides an idealbalance of performance, refinement and economy, and meets strictEuro 6 emissions regulations. Together with manual and automatictransmissions, and rear- and all-wheel drive, the new F-PACE offersa peerless driving experience and exceptional customer choice*

Ingenium diesel: Low fuel consumption, high torque*

The clean, responsive, Euro 6 Ingenium diesel usesstate-of-the-art technologies including selective catalyticreduction (SCR) and low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tocut NOx and CO2. Designed and manufactured in-house,this state-of-the-art, all-aluminium 2.0-litre engine produces180PS/430Nm and develops high torque from low engine speeds, delivering strong acceleration whenever the driver demands it. It'shighly efficient too, achieving 57.7mpg and CO2emissions of just 129g/km on the European combined cycle whenmatched to a smooth-shifting six-speed manual transmission andrear-wheel drive.*

Ingenium is one of the first diesels to feature variable valvetiming: a phaser to the exhaust camshaft enables the aftertreatmentsystem to reach operating temperature as quickly as possible, reducing emissions. The engine warms up very quickly from coldthanks to a split-cooling system featuring a variable flow coolantpump and a mapped thermostat.*

The 1,800bar common rail system and highly efficient variablegeometry turbocharger enable clean, quiet, efficient combustion.Using cooled low-pressure EGR in addition to high-pressure EGRreduces pumping losses and therefore improves efficiency stillfurther. Just as importantly, it reduces peak combustiontemperatures, inhibiting the formation of NOx.*

As well as being inherently clean, the Ingenium diesel alsofeatures an SCR system to cut NOx emissions to very low levels. Byinjecting a urea solution into the exhaust gas upstream of an SCRcatalyst, NOx is converted into harmless nitrogen and water. Thisensures that the Ingenium diesel not only complies with the strictlimits of Euro 6, but can also meet the demands of the moststringent exhaust emissions regulations in the world. Should theadditive tank require topping-up between scheduled services, replenishment is simple: the filler neck is located next to thefuel filler neck.*

Exceptional torque output: V6 diesel with 700Nm*

Jaguar's latest 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine delivers exceptionalrefinement and efficiency with even more power than ever - 300PS -and an extraordinary 700Nm. Offered exclusively with an eight-speedautomatic transmission and all-wheel drive, this remarkable enginecan accelerate the all-new*F-PACE from 0-60mph in just 5.8seconds, yet returns fuel consumption and emissions figures of47.1mpg and 159g/km CO2 on the European combinedcycle.*

State-of-the-art injection and boosting systems deliver theincreased performance. The 2,000bar piezo common rail systemenables even finer control of the amount of fuel injected, and evenbetter mixture formation for more efficient combustion and lessemissions.*

The two turbochargers in the parallel-sequential system are nowmore aerodynamically-efficient and the primary turbo featuresceramic ball bearing technology to reduce friction, especially fromcold. The result is an extremely rapid build-up of torque, delivering a surge in acceleration whenever the driver demandsit.*

A switchable coolant pump means that the engine warms upquickly, while a two-stage oil pump reduces parasitic losses bymatching the flow of lubricant to engine load. The high-pressureEGR system is supplemented by a cooled low-pressure EGR system toimprove engine efficiency and reduce the formation of NOx in thecombustion chambers. An SCR system cuts NOx emissions still furtherand ensures Euro 6 compliance.

The heart of a sports car: Supercharged V6 petrolengines*

Drivers seeking the most rewarding experience will find it theform of the 340PS and 380PS 3.0-litre supercharged V6s. Theseall-aluminium engines are shared with the F-TYPE sports car and arecharacterised by their immediate throttle response, linear powerdelivery and unique intake and exhaust sound.*

The 90° cylinder bank angle enables the roots-type superchargerto be neatly packaged in the vee. Together with direct injectionand variable intake and exhaust valve timing, the superchargerenables the engine to generate a high torque output throughout therev range, delivering strong acceleration at all times.

Both variants are matched to eight-speed automatic transmissionsand all-wheel drive. The 380PS engine is exclusive to the all-newF-PACE First Edition and S models, and can launch them from 0-60mphin only 5.1 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speedof 155mph.*

Turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine: High torque, low consumption*

Select markets will offer the highly efficient 2.0-litre petrolengine. Designed to equal the driveability of larger,naturally-aspirated engines but with much lower fuel consumptionand emissions, this advanced four-cylinder generates maximum torqueof 340Nm from only 1,750rpm through to 4,000rpm.*

Combined with the eight-speed automatic transmission, thislightweight all-aluminium engine delivers excellent transientresponse and mid-range acceleration: 0-60mph takes 7.0 seconds and50-75mph is covered in only 5.0 seconds.*

This performance is made possible by combing direct injectionwith a low-inertia turbocharger and variable inlet and exhaustvalve timing. One of the innovative features of this engine is thesheet metal turbine housing with integrated air-gap insulatedexhaust manifold.*

This design saves weight and significantly reduces thermalinertia. This helps the aftertreatment system to reach light-offtemperature as quickly as possible, reducing fuel consumption andemissions.*

Selecting the best: World-class transmissions developedwith ZF

All of the transmissions featured in the all-new F-PACE weredeveloped with ZF to deliver unrivalled shift quality andefficiency. Two specifically-optimised versions of the peerlesseight-speed automatics from ZF's 8HP family are available.*

All six-cylinder engines are paired with the 8HP70 transmission, while the four-cylinders are matched to the lighter, more compact8HP45. The latter also features a state-of-the-art pendulum damperin the torque converter: this device is extremely effective atabsorbing low frequency vibrations, enabling the engines to run atlower speeds without compromising refinement.*

Jaguar's pioneering rotary gear shift controller is nowdistinguished by a rubberised surface for improved tactility.Although the automatics have been developed to select the rightgear at the right time depending on the mode chosen in the JaguarDrive Control system and according to driving style, enthusiastswill make the most of manual shift control using the steeringwheel-mounted paddles. Satin chrome-finished on First Edition and Smodels, machined solid aluminium paddles with a choice of a red orsilver anodising are available as an accessory fit.*

The six-speed manual transmission is a benchmark for weight andfriction, and contributes to the all-new F-PACE's 129g/kmefficiency when sending drive to the rear wheels only. It's alsothe first Jaguar manual transmission compatible with all-wheeldrive, and has been engineered to offer the most rewardingexperience possible to drivers who prefer to change gear forthemselves.*

Every part of the shift mechanism has been meticulously tuned tomake every change sporty, precise and smooth. The gears engage withexactly the right amount of effort to give a positive, mechanicalfeel without any hint of notchiness.*

Features such as hollow shafts and pocketed gears make thegearbox as light as possible. The semi-dry sump lubrication systemcuts parasitic losses: instead of splash lubrication a compactmechanical pump sprays the low-viscosity lubricant on to themeshing gear teeth, synchroniser rings and bearings.*

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

The all-new F-PACE features Jaguar's most advancedtorque on-demand all-wheel drive system ever, enhanced withIntelligent Driveline Dynamics - a control system first developedfor the F-TYPE AWD. These technologies combine the rear-wheel drivehandling balance and agile steering feel at the core of Jaguar'sdynamics DNA with the performance benefits of greater traction - inall weathers and on all surfaces*

Like the F-TYPE AWD, the all-new F-PACE features a torqueon-demand AWD system. Under normal driving conditions, all of theengine's torque is sent to the rear axle, maintaining a rear-wheeldrive character. This also minimises parasitic losses in thedrivetrain and therefore helps to reduce fuel consumption andemissions.*

Whenever greater traction is needed, IDD ensures that preciselythe right amount of torque is transferred to the front axle. Thisprocess takes no more than 165 milliseconds and is virtuallytransparent to the driver.*

These technologies ensure that the all-new F-PACE delivers theconnected steering feel and rear-wheel drive character inherent toJaguar dynamics DNA, together with handling and performance whichfully exploits the benefits of extra traction when required. Thiscould not be realised with a conventional, full-time AWD system. This extraordinary achievement leverages Jaguar Land Rover'sunrivalled experience and leadership in AWD technologies.*

At the heart of the system is a compact transfer case featuringa multi-plate wet clutch and chain drive to the front axle.Compared to previous designs it's quieter as well as 16 per centlighter and 10 per cent more efficient. But its main advantage isspeed: it can make the transition from 100 per cent rear-bias to a50:50 torque split in just 165 milliseconds. If there is already aproportion of torque being sent to the front axle, additionaltorque transfer can take as little as 100 milliseconds.

The front differential has by far the highest torque capacity ofany AWD Jaguar. This has obvious benefits in terms of performanceand capability, and even if both rear wheels were on polished ice, this would enable more than enough torque transfer for the all-newF-PACE to pull away using the front wheels only.*

Dynamic, intelligent, efficient

Torque distribution is controlled by the IDD module, which isintegrated in the transfer case. Taking data from the vehicle's yawrate, lateral acceleration and steering wheel angle sensors, IDDcontinuously estimates not only the friction between the tyres andthe surface but also how much of the available grip is beingexploited at each contact patch.

This intelligence, coupled to the extremely fast-acting transfercase, enables IDD to employ both pre-emptive and reactive controlstrategies, maximising dynamics and traction. If IDD predicts thatthe rear axle is approaching the limit of available traction, torque will be transferred to the front axle. Torque can also befed forwards to help mitigate oversteer by providing yaw damping.IDD is also networked to Jaguar Drive Control and the DynamicStability Control (DSC) system so that torque distribution can beeven further optimised.

Adaptive Surface Response: Three modes for enhancedcapability

The AWD system in the all-new F-PACE is made more effectivestill by Jaguar's Adaptive Surface Response (ASR) technology. ASRadapts the maps of the throttle, transmission and DSC systemaccording to the type of surface.*

Replacing Rain, Ice, Snow mode in the Jaguar Drive Controlsystem, ASR operates throughout the vehicle's entire speed rangeand enables even finer optimisation of the vehicle's systems tomake the most of the available traction, helping the driver to makesmooth progress even in the most challenging conditions.*

ASR debuted in the all-new XF with two modes - one forlow-friction surfaces such as snow and ice, and one formedium-friction surfaces such as wet tarmac or gravel. In theall-new F-PACE, a third mode has been developed for high-dragconditions such as deep snow and deep gravel to further exploit thevehicle's inherent capability.*

So whereas on ice, for example, a very progressive throttle mapwill be selected, a much more aggressive map is used for deep snowbecause the engine has to build up torque very quickly to help thevehicle to maintain momentum.*

Another key benefit of ASR is that the system automaticallyswitches modes to suit the conditions, leaving the driver free toconcentrate on driving. So if, for example, the road surfacechanges from a thin layer of snow to a gritted section and then toa section covered with a thick layer of snow, ASR will selectdifferent modes for each. The transition takes place quickly -around four seconds - and seamlessly.*

Inherent ability: Excellence from the ground up*

The all-new F-PACE's performance on all surfaces and in allweathers is a function of Jaguar Land Rover's world-leadingall-wheel drive technologies and the inherent advantages of theLightweight Aluminium Architecture.*

Designed to be as light and rigid as possible, the monocoquestructure delivers the high stiffness needed for precise chassiscontrol and delivers class-leading power- and torque-to-weightratios. It also delivers the short overhangs which are not onlyessential to the vehicle's outstanding proportions, but also to themaximum approach and departure angles of 25.5° and 26.0°respectively.*

The ground clearance of 213mm is another advantage and one madeall the more effective because the underfloor is also as smooth aspossible to reduce aerodynamic drag. And when the architecture wasdeveloped, ECUs and other electronics modules were packaged as highup as possible to aid the all-new F-PACE's remarkable 525mm wadingdepth.*

Tested to extremes: Exhaustive global testprogramme*

The all-new F-PACE has been developed to offer unrivalleddriving dynamics but its performance on tarmac is just one of itsstrengths. To ensure that it also delivers on all surfaces and inall weathers, the vehicle has been subjected to the most demandingtest programme imaginable, including the searing heat of Dubai andthe freezing cold of Northern Sweden.*

More than a quarter of a million test miles were accumulated inthese two regions alone, where ambient temperatures can fall as lowas -40°C and reach as high as 50°C. Going to such measures ensuresthat everything from tyres to climate control systems toinfotainment touchscreens function perfectly in extreme conditions, and is fundamental to Jaguar's focus on ever-higher standards ofquality and durability.

"We developed the F-PACE to offer the ride, handling andrefinement demanded from a Jaguar, together with exceptional levelsof ability and composure on all surfaces and in allweathers.

"Just as we paid obsessive attention to detail over theengineering of every single component, we've exhaustively testedthe F-PACE in the most challenging conditions to ensure that itwill exceed the expectations of our customers around theworld."
Andrew Whyman, Vehicle Programme Director, JaguarF-PACE

Among the features at Jaguar Land Rover's winter proving groundin Arjeplog are 60km of purpose-designed handling tracks, loops, inclines and split-friction straights. Testing in Dubai includedgravelled mountain passes and dry river beds known as wadis - theall-new F-PACE is the first Jaguar to be tested in theseparticularly challenging environments.*

This is also the first time that a Jaguar has been evaluated inthe mud and ruts of the legendary Eastnor test facility in the UK:until now, only Land Rover vehicles have been developed here. It'sfitting too that the all-new F-PACE was not assessed using existingsaloon car test requirements: instead, tests were derived from LandRover's uniquely demanding standards.*

This process meant that the engineering team could perfect thecalibration of technologies such as IDD and ASR in the mostdifficult and demanding conditions. The result of this exhaustivedevelopment is a performance crossover which is remarkably capableon everything from ice tracks and deep snow to dirt roads and wetgrass.*

ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS

The all-new F-PACE offers all of technologies needed tomake journeys easier and safer, from traction systems to get youmoving on low friction surfaces to an emergency braking system thatcan recognise pedestrians

All Surface Progress Control: Forward motion indifficult conditions*

Snow, ice, wet grass: pulling away smoothly on surfaces such asthese can be challenging, especially if you're starting on a slope- apply even slightly too much throttle and the wheels can spin.Even if you do get moving, it's another challenge still to maintainyour momentum. Conventional traction control systems can help, butthey only step in after the wheels begin to slip, which is usuallytoo late.*

Jaguar's revolutionary All Surface Progress Control (ASPC)system is completely different. Leveraging the knowledge built upover decades of Jaguar Land Rover experience in off-roadtechnologies, ASPC delivers a step-change in capability becausedrivers don't use the pedals: they just have to steer.*

As well as fine control of the throttle, ASPC also uses thebrakes in opposition to the throttle so that from standstill, onlyvery low engine torque is applied to the driven wheels. The resultis smooth, controlled progress with little or no wheel spin.*

ASPC functions like a low-speed cruise control and can operatebetween 3.6km/h and 30km/h. After activating the system by pressinga button on the centre console, the driver uses the cruise controlswitches on the steering wheel to set the maximum speed. Afterthat, the system does all the hard work. The system is available onall engines paired with automatic transmissions and is compatiblewith rear- and all-wheel drive. ASPC is made even more effective bythe fitment of winter tyres.

Low Friction Launch: Maximum traction, manualcontrol*

While ASPC makes the most of the vehicle's traction capabilityby taking control of the throttle, some drivers want to achievesimilar results while operating the throttle for themselves. TheLow Friction Launch (LFL) function has been designed to do this andthe all-new F-PACE is the first vehicle to offer it.

The driver selects LFL using the touchscreen. Once activated, itchanges the throttle map to one which results in a very progressivetorque response from the engine, enabling the driver to pull awaysmoothly. Like ASPC, LFL is available on all engines mated toautomatic transmissions.*

Vision of the future: Stereo camera boosts activesafety*

State-of-the-art vision sensors will enable highly automated andautonomous driving functions in the near future. Such a sensor isfitted to the all-new F-PACE already, and this forward-facingstereo camera is at the heart of many of its advanced driverassistance systems.*

Providing a highly accurate 3D view of the road ahead, thestereo camera is ideal for Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)systems. The all-new F-PACE is the first Jaguar to offer an AEBsystem with a pedestrian detection function.*If the system'scontroller determines that a collision with a vehicle or apedestrian is imminent,*full braking is initiatedautomatically. The driver also receives visual and audible warningsfor speeds above*40km/h*immediately before the AEBactivates.*

The stereo camera also provides the intelligence for the LaneDeparture Warning (LDW) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA) systems. Bymonitoring the vehicle's position relative to lane markings eitherside, LDW can help to prevent drivers from drifting out of lane bytriggering a visual warning in the instrument panel and a hapticwarning through the steering wheel rim. LKA can guide the driverback towards the centre by applying a small amount ofcounter-steering through the electric power-assisted steeringsystem. The torque applied to the steering wheel can be easilyover-ridden by the driver.*

Failure to stay in lane is often due to a lack of concentrationbut driver fatigue can also be a factor. Such tiredness may becharacterised by periods of little or no steering activity followedby sudden or excessive inputs. The Driver Condition Monitor systemrecognises these patterns, and, by also checking the useage of thebrake and accelerator pedals, the direction indicators and variousbuttons on the instrument panel, will show a multi-stage warning inthe instrument cluster and give audible warnings to prompt thedriver to take a break.*

The all-new F-PACE's Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) system usesthe stereo camera to keep the driver informed of the speed limit -including temporary limits which apply in road works, for example, variable limits on motorways, or reduced limits when towing. Thelimit is displayed in the instrument cluster and the head-updisplay, and camera data is always cross-referenced against GPSdata for maximum robustness. If the driver selects the over-speedwarning function, the ring around the sign graphic flashes wheneverthe limit is exceeded, giving an unobtrusive prompt to slowdown.*

Further support for the driver comes from the Intelligent SpeedLimiter (ISL). This can use TSR system data to adjust the set pointand can automatically increase or decrease the vehicle's maximumspeed*while the accelerator pedal is pressed.*If the TSRsystem recognises a higher speed limit ahead, the ISL systemnotifies the driver and the vehicle can accelerate smoothly up tothe new limit. If the speed limit is lower, the vehicle can beslowed down accordingly.*

A clear advantage: Laser head-up display*

Projecting the most important information onto the windscreenenables the driver to focus on the road ahead. The all-new F-PACE'slaser head-up display (HUD) can put information such vehicle speed,turn-by-turn navigation instructions and speed limits right in thedriver's eye line, minimising the amount of time spent glancingdown at the instrument cluster. The colour images are exceptionallysharp and are adjustable both in height and in brightness; the HUDcan also be switched off if desired.*

Laser technology is unique in this segment and offers severaladvantages over conventional TFT systems: smaller and almost athird lighter, the images it generates offer superior coloursaturation and higher contrast, so they remain clear even in brightsunlight.*

Keeping your distance: Adaptive Cruise Control withQueue Assist*

As well as reducing driver workload when cruising on themotorway, the all-new F-PACE's Adaptive Cruise Control system (ACC)can also help to relieve the monotony of driving in heavy traffic, thanks to the queue-assist function. The long-range radar willmaintain a safe distance to the vehicle in front, all the way downto a standstill. Press the accelerator again, and the all-newF-PACE will pull away again and track the vehicle in front, at asafe distance, all the way up to the chosen speed setting.*

Looking out for you: Blind Spot Monitor and ReverseTraffic Detection*

By monitoring the area behind the vehicle, radar can assist thedriver in other scenarios too. Medium-range sensors can makeovertaking safer by warning the driver of other vehiclesapproaching fast from behind. As they approach the blind spot, aflashing icon appears in the door mirror to alert the driver of thepotential danger. As the vehicle enters the blind spot, the iconbecomes solid.*

The same medium-radar sensors can help to improve safety atslower speeds too. When reversing out of parking spaces, othervehicles approaching from either side - which may not be visible tothe driver - are detected by the radar. If they present a potentialhazard, the driver is given audible and visual warnings.*

Room to manoeuvre: Park Assist*

To help the driver to park in even the tightest spaces, theall-new F-PACE offers semi-automated park assist functions forparallel and bay parking manoeuvres. The vehicle's ultrasonicsensors first measure the space, and, if the system decides thatit's suitable, will enable the vehicle to steer itself in - thedriver just has to control the accelerator and the brakes. Thesystem can also steer the vehicle out of parallel spaces.*

Safer towing: Trailer Stability Assist*

The all-new F-PACE also offers a Trailer Stability Assist (TSA)function. TSA detects when a potentially dangerous trailer sway isdeveloping and helps the driver to regain control by graduallyreducing speed by reducing engine torque and applying the brakes -individually on each side if necessary to counteract and stabilisethe swaying motion.*

No mean feat. It must look much better in the metal, to me the exterior looks a bit generic from pictures, though the interior is awesome.
