VelocityAP Jaguar FPace Exhaust Development
Okay boys and girls, hope you are sitting comfortably. We're in the final phase of designing our prototype FPace exhaust. Took some time to figure out a couple of nifty things on this one. We were supplied an original equipment pattern by a customer who bought a Quicksilver unit but was unhappy with the drone. So we have looked at this one very carefully and created a design which features two significant resonance cancelling properties.
Firstly, the muffler: A double pass through design means that exhaust gases pass through the muffler twice. We have found on other vehicles that this setup has excellent resonance cancelling properties because you are bouncing sound waves against each other inside the muffler.
Secondly, the actual exhaust pipe you see, although it looks like it is straight through, is blanked off inside the pipe, between the inlet and outlet for the muffler, to direct gases into the muffler. However this also has a good accoustic effect. The exhaust gases will pressurize the muffler and travel through nicely, but sound waves will bounce off this blanking plate, and head back in the opposite direction to those travelling down the exhaust pipe.
These two features should enable a nice, sporty sound but we anticipate will produce significant frequency cancellation and the avoidance of drone, which V6 engines can suffer from. We hope to have finished in the next couple days, some final production photos and a good selection of sound clips for you.

XE is on the list. I have been working with an owner in Edmonton who might be willing to lend us his car. Trying to avoid buying new OEM parts to develop sport cats and exhaust.

I'm now the proud owner of VelocityAP's Sport Exhaust System. My first impression was wow... deep rumble, pops, cracks and flames (made the last one up). I am planning to shoot some video this weekend using a microphone that I truly hope will capture the deep lower tones of the exhaust. Cellphone video would NOT be a fair representation of it.
I paid to get it installed, too many things going on and family visiting from overseas, etc. But the shop said installation went smoothly, and not a single hiccup.
Note this is not for the faint of heart, this is a loud exhaust system. From the moment you turn it on you can hear the exhaust's deep sound on the inside of the car. I am not going to say that it sounds like a V8 because I don't want to offend anybody, but the sound is a lot deeper than I expected. I love it, and it goes perfect with the custom tune.
Stay tuned for the videos, I really hope I can shoot some serious clips this weekend. Great job to Stuart and the V_AP guys.
Note: you might have seen this post in another forum as well :-). Just trying to keep everyone on the loop.

Touring is somewhere between stock and their Sport version (from the videos). I'm happy with mine, but highway driving can be a bit overwhelming after a long day in the office. My family doesn't mind at all but they don't drive it everyday like I do. When you step on it it really opens up, there is no way to quiet it down. Driving on eco is a bit lower. It sounds deep...
I was planning on doing more videos, drive bys etc, but I stopped after no much feedback. Would be happy to install and record a touring version as well.
I'm sure Stuart will post an update soon.

What should be the final prototype. We worked with our Mandrel bending company to be able to create larger sections of tube and eliminate some welds. This is going to help bring down the cost of this system, so we can offer it at a more affordable price.
Hopefully should be fitted this weekend and we will sign off.

It definitely sounds louder than the stock exhaust. Drive by would be the best representation of the actual sound for sure.
It is a great time we live in. You can get a full-size SUV that sounds and handles like a sports car.

Okay everyone. We're officially launching the product in both Touring and Sport configurations. Retail price will be $1295 - we were able to get this down some way by working with our bending company to reduce the number of welds needed.
Launch special pricing is $895 + Shipping, and our production schedule is probably going to see these orders ship in 7-8 weeks time. Need some lead time to assemble mufflers, and get our bend order on the schedule with our supplier.

It's a great exhaust. I picked up a touring one and it's decently loud (in a good way) with a great sound. No drone. Loved it on my car before I sold my car. Kudos to Velocity AP. Anyone wanting to pick one up, I recommend it. I, also, got mine for sale too if you're interested. You can't lose either way.
