*Bye Bye 2015! HELLO 2016 F Type!*
So this time last year, I picked up a 2015 F Type Base Coupe in Polaris White
-Metal Roof
-Performance Seats
-Premium Pack (Dual zone climate, heated seats/steering wheel and garage door opener)
-No active exhaust
-380 Watt Meridian
Mods were:
-Wrapped the roof in black vinyl
-Upgraded to the 20" Gyrodyne wheels and powdercoated them black
-You may remember that I had the premuffler removed and straight pipes welded on
-Upgraded from the round steering wheel to the flat bottom with Ignis Paddles
FAST FORWARD 1 YEAR:
Got into a 2016 F Type Base in Polaris White. Since the options I had on the 2015 were no longer available al la carte for 2016, this is what I got:
-Panoramic roof
-770 Watt Meridian System
-Performance Seats with Extended Leather Pack
-Climate Pack
-Red Stitching
-Active Exhaust
-Removed the 20" Gyrodynes from the 2015 and put it on the 2016.
-Interior Black Pack (Upgrades you to the Flat Bottom Wheel)
-Exterior Black Pack (Previous car had matte black and chrome trim pieces vs all gloss black)
I lost the built in garage door opener and dual climate which are not missed at all.
The build quality and quality of materials is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the 2015. The stitching alignment on the door panels are near perfect vs being almost 1/4 inch off. The stereo exhibits absolutely no rattle or distortion. I'm unsure if they modified the spring and damper rates but the suspension feels absolutely taut and precise where as the 2015 was unsettled and a little sloppy. The EPS steering is nicely weighted and I prefer it over the hydraulic system. LOVE LOVE being able to monitor my car from my Apple Watch.

Looks good OP!
I was just about to PM you about your F/S Thread on those Gyrodynes. I need a second set for winter duty.
So you ended up keeping them...I thought your original F-Type came with them and you were trying to sell them to upgrade to something else.

I'm picky as hell and spent a lot of time looking for things that were wrong on my '14 without success. All seams line up perfectly on my '14 inside and out, with no quibbles about fit and finish anywhere.
Moreover, I don't understand the comment about the quality of the interior materials. As far as I can tell, none of the materials used have changed over the 3 MYs.

Interesting observations about quality - Lovely car by the way!
We had a MY2015 V8S and a MY 2016 V8R.
It appears that Jag finally got their stuff together and took onboard some corrective actions (possibly from feedback on MY14's) for the MY16's, as we noted exactly the same as you.
The general quality and feel was superior in the later car, and the only recall to date on the 16's as far as I'm aware was a re-torque of a track rod nut. The stereo gremlins, certainly in ours, had be sorted at the factory.
Of course the infotainment and dash display was a leap forward, and it seems you are having fun with the remote info.
The only thing that hadn't improved was the quality of the paint finish...it's still has flaws from new, but nothing that xPel won't hide!

While it may well be true that JLR "finally got their stuff together . . ." and that '16 F-Types average higher overall quality than earlier MYs, both yours and the OPs observations are just two data points. Companies like "TrueDelta" are tying to compile data by model year to draw some conclusions about quality trends, but limited F-Type sample sizes are hindering those efforts.
Other than the Meridian problem, which seems to be nearly resolved, my sense is that complaints reported in this forum have remained relatively constant over all model years.

I think that the difference in interior quality people are referring to comes in the difference of the basic interior vs. the extended / premium leather option. Note that the OP has extended leather in his new car and did not in his last.
My previous '15 base coupe had performance seats without the extended leather option. This left the arm rests in a rubbery plastic and the door panels, much of the dash, and console trim in a rather cheap (for a 75K+ car) vinyl.
Compare that to my '16 R where all of the aforementioned items are now wrapped in a soft leather. Even the leather used for the seats in the R is different than that of the regular performance seat option that I had in my last car... not only is it softer, all of the material is also a deeper black tone than in my previous F Type.
To sum it up, it's probably not a model year thing, but there is a big difference between the basic interior vs. the extended / premium leather option. As there should be, because it comes at a price.

I've had a '15 R coupe and now have a '16 R coupe and I've noticed no difference in interior quality between the two.

I am very happy with the quality and fit of the interiour in my 15 R. It has extended leather and even the red stiching matches / lines up spot on between the door panels and dash.
No rattles anywhere and good quality sound from the 770 w Meridian as well.
So far no issues at all.
