Honestly, that sounds awful....although I would've like to meet all you guys - that sounds like a rough day!

Hopefully we can catch up at the July event or sooner

Invite me next time! I'm in Philly and would love to take part in this. See how the AWD R really hooks up....could be fun (who am I kidding...it WILL be fun!)

Follow slipstream racing and wannagofast on facebook. Events sell out a few hours after they open. Jags are not doing well in these events .... we are at the low end of power and traction ... so this is more for yourself, you will lose 8-9 out of 10.

So I went on the Mickey Thompson site and started looking but did not see anything off hand that would fit any rims I have, closest was a 325 tire. What type and size tire from Mickey Thompson do you have and on what rim, stock or a smaller after market size. Would a 19" rim even fit on the brakes? Looking at Midwest tire and wheels I could get a set of rear rims for my car for about $1,100 plus sensors plus tires and it might be something I am willing to do for the 2 - 3 times a year I actually use them.

MadCat - do exactly what Schwabe was saying, stay on top of SlipStream racing...and yes, also as he said...it's more of a "for fun" / social hang out thing for us, def at the low end of the rung...but I'm sending my supercharger out to get ported in a few days (sshhhhhh....) hopefully between that and some downpipes, I'll start trapping 160

On to tires...

I run a MT 305/35/19 - I picked up a set of replica OEM 19's from eBay (99% sure it was ebay) like 4yrs ago when I had my XKR. The work like a charm, tires don't rub, ecu doesn't freak out and the clear the brakes.

If you're willing to do w/o the sensors and go my route - you can shave a few hundred dollars off that price tag. Either way, if you want to hit the strip or have a fighting chance at 1/2 - you need to pick up a set.

of course Jag's 19s are only 9.5 .... hmmm to squeeze a 305 on to that rim "probably" works but do I want that with a drag radial, that I might under inflate a bit to flex and bite better .... just not my cup of experience ... anybody chime in if that is doable?

Ha, anyone besides me?! That's the exact setup I've run for the past 4 years. You are correct, not the ideal / correct width and it does budge a bit - but other than not being able to take turns at 100mph - you are completely fine.

I run them at 20psi cold at the track - and they seem to like a fairly big burnout.

255/50/16 and 7.5" wheels. 50-series MTs have soft sidewalls. 15PSI.

Yeah, we were pretty much dead on - like I said, the weather and track was crap (as you know) - all I did was spin them anyway. They were useless :/ Seems like we're making about the power though - so with a set of drag radials you should be right there with me around 11.44 1/4 mile. You can see the crappy 60' and launches since my best ET was something like 11.9x

Yeah, my reaction time was crap too. It was just too cold to have left foot on brake and go on last yellow, it just spun, so I had right foot on brake let off, car started rolling and then throttle. I think mid 150s is very possible even on street tires if the traction is there. Next stop for me is Wannagofast VA.
