2016 Jaguar Lobster Run
Bring it on! Truth is 1) my F-Type will be on the road most of this winter and 2) I eat lobster probably once or twice a week, year-round. In other words, anyone wishing for an earlier "Lobster Run" before spring is sprung, I'm game!

Luckily my wife is a lawyer, albeit one specializing in employment law and adoptions. Further, the speed limit in Maine - at least on the highway; surely part of our intended route - is typically 70 mph and as long as you have someone riding shot-gun, that's 70 mph per person so we should all be OK.
Bottom line is it should prove to be lots of fun. A long day, but lots of fun! (And no jail time).
P.S. Two weekends ago I did exactly [all] the listed events for Saturday, with the sole exception being instead of dining at Union in Portland that night, I had the most incredible sushi/sashimi/Omakase dinner in Rockland at Suzuki: http://www.suzukisushi.com/page3/page3.html

I still need to finalize several of the items on the itinerary, but here is a bit more detailed rundown of what I envision (feel free to pass it along):
Arrive Friday May 6
· Check into The Press Hotel. http://www.thepresshotel.com/ (they provide valet parking – indoor – although we can park our own if we choose to).
· 4:00-5:00 PM: Meet for drinks in The Inkwell. http://www.thepresshotel.com/the-inkwell
· 5:00 PM: Prose reading by local writer –resident literary genius/friend – RobertGibbons. http://robertgibbons.net/Publications.html

Saturday May7
· 7:00/7:15 AM: Meet in lobby of The Press Hotel for drive – approximately 30 minutes - to Topsham, Maine and Blueberries. http://www.facebook.com/blueberriesfood (Blueberry pancakes are the star here in my opinion – as is the owner and dear friend Drew Victory - although everything is fabulous and satisfying).
· 9:00 AM: depart Blueberries for parts north and Owls Head Transportation Museum. http://owlshead.org/ (docent-led tour of an amazing collection of automobiles, art, and historic aircraft).
· 12:00/1:00 PM: catered lunch delivered to Owls Head Transportation Museum from The Brass Compass Café. http://thebrasscompasscafe.com/ (Their Lobster Club bested Bobby Flay’s Throw Down).
· 2:00 PM: depart Owls Head for short drive to Rockland and The Farnsworth Museum. http://www.farnsworthmuseum.org/ (docent-led tour of everything Wyeth; N.C., Andrew, and Jamie). Stunning!
· 4:30/5:00 PM: depart Farnsworth and head south back to The Press Hotel.
· 7:00/7:30 PM: dinner at the spectacular Union. http://www.thepresshotel.com/union Executive Chef, and good friend, Josh Berry is creative, inventive, and amazing and produces dishes which tantalize the senses and tickle the palette.

My pleasure and a no-brainer for me. I could do this in my sleep (if I ever slept). Just off the phone with The Press Hotel [re] how many rooms are needed. Considering this plan has only been germinating for less than 48 hours - and we already have 7 participants, with more in the wings (and that's even before inviting other Jaguar owners) - it could be great. it's definitely gonna be fun and I still have some loose ends to tie up. No matter, any or all of it is subject to a plan "B". And I always have a plan "B". (And "C" if necessary).
All I ask is keeping me in the loop [re] the number of commitments. I'll take care of the rest.
Thanks!
Jay

Please don't stone me... Just two quick questions...
Is the first weekend of May a little early yet? When exactly is the "height" of Lobster season, and is there still a chance for a spring Snow in the first weekend of May?

Here's a link to some "facts" about lobster (although I should tell you that I just now spoke with my lobsterman buddy who said the average person wouldn't be able to tell the difference in taste or quality; even if soft-shell lobsters have different characteristics than hard-shell). No matter what, you shall have all the lobster you can eat - even if you and I catch our own on my buddy's boat; where ya gonna get an offer like that?! - and as far as the weather goes, the chance of snow in May is quite low...less than 5% is my guess, without checking.
The Lobster Season In Maine | Maine-ly Lobster
Some people, by the way, swear soft-shells are better tasting than hard-shells and just as many people think just the opposite is true. (Which means we might just have to have a second 2016 Fall Jaguar Lobster Run).
My intention is to lead this [growing] group - 8 have already "signed" up (Lance?) - of merry men on a weekend to remember! In other words, I'll be in front. I will provide updates when I solidify a few more things, and even then I might have to call an audible at the line of scrimmage. In any event - this event - the "wheels" are in motion, literally and figuratively, fellow F-Typers...
