Wasn't Tahoe Dave the first to deal with this?

Just wanted to update and say the dealer was able to successfully remove the front plate and brackets. Of course at first they told me it wasn’t possible but I told them I checked with some of you guys and kinda made it an issue with them. Within a day I get a call from them “oh hey so yeah we were able to remove it” haha yeah no **** 😂😂😂😂

It's funny how with the invention of the internet and popularity of discussion forums like this one and about any other make and model of vehicle, that owners often know more or discover issues long before dealers are aware of them.

But dealers still try to disparage we "armchair technicians" ....

From reading Tahoe Dave's and JonnyM's posts, the flat plastic plate comes off easily, but the two brackets need to have a bolt loosened from their rear to allow a clamping piece to rotate and clear the slots in the grille for removal.

Did you get the bracket off successfully?? Just took possession of my F-type tonight.

thanks
Mark

you need a 8mm ratchet (not too big and as flat as possible so it fits inside the mesh) to unscrew the back screw enough to turn the vertical plastic piece horizontal before you can remove it

took me a good 20 minutes cuz the space is small to work with

Just my two cents, there is a lot of air flow blocked by the plate in that low position, more than in the in the centre position because of the spoiler effect. You could also minimize the spoiler effect for stability pourpose

Thank you for your advice. The bottom of the plate sits less than a 1/4 inch from the spoiler and about the same on the top by the chromed oval. Do you think this is going to adversely affect the aerodynamics at 80/90 mph?

In any case, more often than not, I do not run a front plate which is why I purchased the Sto&Sho. If I got stopped, I would have the plate and would plead stupidity that I forgot to put it on after getting the car washed.

Davidlg16, would one of these stubby ratcheting wrenches in 8mm work well for removing the bolts ?

you can use thick ones, just take a little longer, the thinner one you can just twist 270deg where as really thick one you can turn maybe 90 deg and then reposition

Thanks I'll pick up a set of the ratcheting wrenches at Harbor Freight. They are only around $27 before any coupons and I'm sure I'll find other uses for them. One can never have enough tools right ?

Is there any racket that would work best. I purchased one the other day and I could not get it on the head of the bolt. I got frustrated pretty quick.

What is the best way to back out the screw so you can at least feel the head of the nut?

Any idea would be greatly appreciated!!

Mark

Default Removed Front Plate Brackets

I just removed my front plate brackets on my 2021 Jaguar F-Type R. I read all the threads which was really helpful

Here is how I removed the brackets. I used Drexel tool and cut a slot on the bolts. Then I used a small flat head screwdriver and backed the bolt out until the piece holding the bracket was loose enough to go horizontal and fit through the grill and the bracket was out. Took about 15 minutes to remove both brackets.

Jag looks much better without the plate in the grill

Default Easy Removal

So I read all of your threads and were very helpful. That said, I knew I had to find an easier way just using some locking pliers and it took me no more than a minute to remove both. Here are some pics of the bracket removal of my 2022 Ftype P450.

Here is that bracket.

Using locking plier. Doesnt need to be extremely tight, just enough to turn it clockwise as much as you can pushing the bolt in.

After the bolt is almost flush, you can stick both your index fingers to loosing it even more until you will be able to turn the vertical plastic horizontal.

Here is that plastic piece that holds the bracket from coming out. It is shown horizontal now since i moved it

Finish product.

I never noticed that little "F-Type" Easter Egg in the facelift grilles. Thanks for sharing.

I used a Dremel Rotary Tool. Works great and reversable.

Agree...I would not F' up the front of my car with a plate. The Po Po here in Illinois (some areas) take sport in giving $120 tickets for the missing front...I have paid about 10 of them on various cars, but not putting one on, until it becomes jail time or a good beating

Thanks Stark911! The dealer told me they had to put the plate bracket on because its the law- yes well the OTHER Jag dealer and Audi dealers have all "accidently" left it off. So when I showed up for delivery they told me they would have to pull the whole front bumper. I told them hard pass. When I got home I used the your post- 10 minutes later (5 were spent trying to find my vice grips) and perfect- no more bracket. I sent this link to the service manager- LOL
