Yeah, for the $, Nissan's Z is pretty nice. It just sucks that you only get 2 trims - the base 40K with no LSD or 50K with LSD, bigger brakes, 1" larger screen, upgraded stereo, etc. Same engine output though.

Personally, I just hate the front. I know, I know, they say that the headlights are homage, bla bla. They are just ugly to me. I think that 370z was a much better-looking car on the outside overall. And the refinement still didn't get there this time around. The shifter still vibrates like 370 used to. There's still a ton of road noise under 35mph.

The Z was my high school dream car. I got a G35 sedan instead (a great consolation), because my dad didn't want a coupe on my insurance. But I still longed for a 2 seater, manual sports car. In the end, the Z inspired me to purchase my current F-Type. I respect the Z a lot, and Nissan in my opinion has done a great job with the 400Z. If the F-Type 6MT never existed, I would strongly consider one.

They had to make the grill that large for cooling. It fits 3 heat exchangers (radiator, oil cooler, and one other I can't remember right now..).

I fail to see similarities between the Z and the F-Type, seeing the video, Aston Martin design looks more like it, or perhaps is the F-type that looks like the Aston Martin

The 370Z is a great car, principally if tuned, can be wrong but this new one will be a hit! Shocking to see that is as fast than my R.

I actually have no problems with the grill. I can’t stand the headlights. They look too friendly to me, very feminine. I don’t think that they match up well with the 300zx tails. 370z had a much better look in this regard imo.

I would take the new Z over the '21+ F (not a fan of the new F front clip and the AT). If I were on a stricter financial diet, the Z would definitely be the car to have. The Z design elements were stolen from the original 240Z. Just my opinion, of course.

Ian Cullum designed the Astin Martin Vanquish. The same person that designed the current Jaguar lineups including the F-Type.

For that kind of money you could have Z for the road, a Z for the track, and enough money left over to go racing.

Exotic looks versus a try to revamp early JDM. Classy interior vs an old and tired 350Z refresh with some digital gauges. It really is apples and oranges.

IMO, the Z32 model was the best looking of the Zs because of how ahead of its time it was. Crazy to think that the 1989 model still looks sleek and modern on the streets. Don't forget that even the classic mighty Lamborghini Diablo stole the 300zx headlights!

Funniest comment of the week, really.

Says the guy who started this thread by saying that the 2023 Z is a " an F type ripoff. A poorly executed one at that". My whole point was that other than both cars being roadsters and hatchbacks, no one is comparing them against each other whatsoever.

I respect the Z and what Nissan has done (especially for the price), but one can stay subjective and point out the shortcomings of any car (that's what keeps you from becoming a fanboy). I've never had a Jag and just bought a 400 sport less than a month ago and can already tell you with conviction some of its shortcomings. For example, the Meridian stereo sucks terribly and I have the upgraded version. No, I didn't buy the F type for its stereo but for the price, they could have done a much better job. Harman Kardon and Burmeister for example are heads and shoulders above in quality.

I like these night videos because about 80% of my non-work driving is at night.

A couple friends brought up the feminine look of the new Z. Forced to agree. Some aftermarket parts might help butch it up a bit.

Keep in mind that Aston in the video was a 2010 version which more around low to mid 5 second 0-60 times.. i.e. not the fastest comparison. A better comparison would have been the F-Type 400 Sport.

that’s my baby! But the Z would still smoke it. I’ve seen times as low as 4 seconds to 60 already. Like I said, I respect the car but it’s just not my cup of tea.

Time will tell but it lost to the Supra which is not the fastest thing around.

300 Z line was never the best performing car. That was never its angle, but I think the new Z will find its place.

The price factor is big in this class. Supra, Z4 and a Nissan. If I was upgrading from an F86, Subaru, or a Miata I'd start and probably end with the Z. I've had plenty of fun cars not really fast, past Z cars and TT's. I had a really fast straight line SLK55 AMG and it was fun also, if bit expensive on rear tires. My favorite car of all time is my F Type,. 8.5 years now. Unfortunately now with a major mechanical problem, all signs point to a head gasket failure, won't know for sure till full disassembly by Friday. Shop is suspicious do to low mileage and no loss of oil or coolant, we'll see. I'm sure multi $1000's for sure.
