Even though the illustrious RickyJay cannot be with us this year we just had to keep the annual FType tour going. Having learned much from the master Dave Sperry and my wife and I have pulled together another tour. This year we are on the outer part of Cape Cod and then on to Newport Rhode Island for four days of adventure. Today we began our first of two nights at the Chatham Bars Inn and begin the adventure in earnest in the morning with stops at Nauset Lighthouse, the Marconi Museum and the Cape COD National Seashore.
Saturday will also include a number of fun stops and a visit to a real cranberry harvest!
Here are some photos of the beginning get together and we will have a few other folks joining us tomorrow morning that could not be at the kickoff tonight. More to come. We even had the Northern Lights join us!
Jaguar might be taking its name off countless dealerships and stopping production of our favorite automobile (OK, one of our favorites) but there is no stopping our group of merry men and women! I am sorry I could not be with you this year (indeed I am, in spirit) but am so very proud of what you’ve put together and keeping the events alive with the snap, crackle and pops of our engines and the camaraderie of the group.
Godspeed!

P.S. Great pics—looking forward to seeing many more—and logo.

Full day today! Cranberry bogs, beautiful gardens and of course cars. We have left Cape Cod after two wonderful days and now are in Newport RI till Monday. More adventures in store.
The final full day of the adventure began with breakfast at the hotel and then we were off to go sailing on an Americas Cup 12 Meter Racing Yacht Valiant. Valiant was defeated by Intrepid in the 1970 Defender Trials but she had a very successful career for many years after. She was also one of the last wooden 12 Meters ever built in the US. The sailing was great, even though a tad chilly in Newport RI. 6-10 knot winds and light overcast sky’s.
Following our sail we headed to the Audrain Museum to view the impressive collection that featured cutting edge designs in their respective eras.
Then on to the Breakers Mansion for lunch and a tour. After our tour everyone separately toured the town until we all met for our final dinner. Tomorrow many of us will have breakfast and then depart in our seperate ways to our home states. I will post the full itinerary and stops in a few days. I believe all had a great time and it was great to bring everyone together again for another year. On to 2025!
Thank you for the FaceTime call tonight and seeing all the happy faces. (I also enjoyed making an impromptu announcement last night while you all assembled in the hotel lobby).
Lastly, I also appreciated 3 separate friends sending me their views of this yesterday:
Great! Marko plans to post the full itinerary when he has a chance. I highly recommend the Newport Car Museum. I believe they had a Supercar room, a Corvette room, a Ford room (Mustangs and Shelbys), a Porsche room, and a Mopar room. Very impressive. We happened to be there on ‘hoods up’ day.
The final full day of the adventure began with breakfast at the hotel and then we were off to go sailing on an Americas Cup 12 Meter Racing Yacht “Heritage”. Heritage was defeated by Intrepid in the 1970 Defender Trials but she had a very successful career for many years after. She was also one of the last wooden 12 Meters ever built in the US. The sailing was great, even though a tad chilly in Newport RI. 6-10 knot winds and light overcast sky’s.

Below is the itinerary for the Tour. On behalf of the entire group we would like to thank each and every hotel, restaurant, museum, location, business and the towns we visited. We could not have received a warmer welcome from all and the weather turned out to be perfect for the entire long weekend. Most of all I would like to thank my wife, Tamela for all of her help designing the logo, providing edible treats for the attendees and also providing a wonderful welcoming gift of her pottery to all. Dave Sperry, who helmed last years event, was a tremendous help as well and we took lots of inspiration from Jay Levine (RickyJay) who for the 8 years prior was the master of this type of event. Who knows what next year will bring but we do all desire to keep it going.
I encourage anyone to visit these sites, frequent these establishments and stay at these locations and towns. You will not be disappointed.
2024 Jaguar F-Type Cranberry Harvest Tour
We are starting at the Chatham Bars in for the nights of October 10 and 11. The nights of the 12th and the 13th will be in Newport at the Atlantic Beach Hotel. 2024 Jaguar F-Type Cranberry Tour: All agenda photos are in the attachment.
October 10-12, 2024
Agenda for the Weekend:
Thursday 4pm-6pm afternoon arrival and happy hour, dinner and drinks -At the Hotel
Friday 9:00AM,After breakfast, a day of excursions to Nauset Light Cape Cod National Seashore, https://www.nausetlight.org/ You may recognize it as the logo of the Cape Cod Potato Chip Company.
1. Go back to the hotel, walk the beach, etc
2. Walk the Cliff Walk. Some could walk back to the hotel, and get a ride back to get their car.
3. Drive out to Fort Adams State Park. It’s a 2-mile walk around the peninsula, or a paid tour of the fort is around a mile of walking.
4. Drive out to the resort on Goat Island (just off downtown Newport) for a beverage and views.
My hat is off (not that I wear one) to Marko, Tamela (who puts her heart and soul into every one of our events: behind every great man is often an even greater woman…I should know, not that I’m great) and Dave for keeping the flame alive.
And thank you for the shout-out.
I’ve found it a bit odd (or unfortunate) that more people haven’t the desire in organizing/hosting more F-Type events throughout the country much less the world. There are certainly enough of us.
Who knows…I might even host another event in the future?
The 202X Eight Isn’t Enough Tour. (Although I’ve hosted 9 events over the years). Or maybe The 202X Jaguar F-Type Phoenix Tour. Or perhaps The 202X Come One Come All Tour.
In the meantime Marko, Tam & Dave…take a well-deserved bow.
Best regards,
Jay
