Default 21/22 Differences between V8 RWD & R?

Hi guys, been doing some car shopping and I’m torn between a 2021/22 v8 RWD and R. Don’t think I need the AWD performance and liked the RWD rawness (reminds me of my younger days when I had a GT500 lol) Just wondering if anyone knows the mechanical differences between v8 RWD and R.

From what I gathered, in pre-facelift cars there are virtually no differences apart from 1. RWD vs AWD; 2. hydraulic PS vs EPS; 3. Possibly different suspension tuning.

Is it still the case on facelifted cars? appreciate the help!

If I’m reading your first question correctly. The original RWD V8 was tuned to produce 495hp. I have the 2014 V8s in that mode. The rear can get sideways if your not watching it and on a great set of tires. At 575hp, the car would be even more unforgiving if it came as RWD but it doesn’t for 2022. Your choice is the RWD at 444hp or the AWD at 575. At that point your choice is either get the 444hp version and tune it up to 495+ Or go with the 575 and have better control at that HP level. I happen to love my V8S which is just nuts enough to make me respect it and have fun.

Also the main difference is not mechanical for the engine, it’s in the tune. The AWD vs RWD of course is the other mechanical difference but the engines are identical.

I was actually cross-shopping with a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0/ Spyder/ Cayman GT4, maybe a used 991.2 CS, and completely forgot about the F Type!

Then I remembered that as much as I liked the precision of the P cars, I really miss the rawness of my old 2011 GT500 (w/ bunch of aftermarket stuff putting out 650whp), but since I'm older now I wanted something less childish looking

Anyways --- if it's indeed only the tune and AWD hardware, that's kinda crazy given the price differences, I thought Jag would have at least made some changes in cooling (trans/ diff/ intercooler etc) and brakes!
