Before I go tearing into the wiring on this car checking to see if there are any known fixes for this error on these cars or common occurrence that I can troubleshoot from.
Symptoms are the following
ABS can bus Hi no communication U001-88
right wheel sensor C0034-31 no signal - have swapped wheel sensors and it stays on same side.

of course all the faults on the dashboard ABS, traction control. parking brake as expected since the abs system isn't being seen.

 

Well I should have known, bad JLR mongoose clone cable and a missed wiring connection to really complicate matters.
Anyone have a suggestion for mongoose adapter source?
