Default Add Rear Camera to 2016 F-Type S Convertible?

I just got my 2016 F-type S Convertible and would like to add a backup camera. I don't know if the info head unit has an RCA video input or not. I have been looking at kits with a 5-inch screen (wireless or wired cameras). The camera wire has to be run from the license plate to inside the trunk for power (I don't know how to do that on this model Jag) and I would need to tap the brake light power line. If I get a wired camera with screen I would also need to know how to run the camera feed wire from the truck to inside the cab. Has anyone been though this process?

I did just find other threads here on this topic, seems getting my own kit with its own screen is the best solution. I still could use some tips for running the camera wire from the rear tag to inside the trunk and tapping the brake light power line ( or any 12v source and the camera can stay on and I'll put a switch at the monitor power ). If using a wired camera, looking for any tips to get that wire from the truck to the cab.

I would get UAD/Joyeauto wireless carplay kit that had input for reverse camera(and front if you can be bothered). Highly unlikely you need to tap anything. Also it is the reverse lights not the brake lights that need tapping in anycase .Has 12v output for the camera itself built in as well

Default Backup camera

I also have a 16 S coupe and wanted a solar powered backup camera no wires! The Whistler was my choice, under $100. Rechargeable battery and solar powered, since my jag is in my garage, it doesn’t get much sun unless I take a weeklong trip. It holds a charge for probably 6-8 weeks. It has a recharger that takes a couple hours to recharge, I just leave it in overnight if I’m taking a weeklong trip. I’m very please with this model and I keep the monitor in my drivers side door pocket, it plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet. I was not interested in routing wires or splicing into existing backup lights as these jags are so sensitive to voltage. Don’t usually need it when I park but have it when required.

Thanks Frank, I tried to find your Whistler model but it looks like they don't stock it any more ( looks like yours has 4 led night lights, nice! ). But I am going to try a ParkVision Solar Wireless. Thanks for the tip! Beautiful color on your Jag by the way!

If you’re interested in my model of whistler they’re on eBay for about $60 brand new. Yes I love the color combo on my Jag. Good luck with your backup camera, these F type need them when required. I chose mine because it was somewhat unobtrusive and blended into the rear without taking away from the wonderful view as seen by others. One of the best if not the best rear end of a (modern) vehicle ever!
