Another OBD and Battery Drain thread.......
..........with a twist.
Query: if a Jag dealer uses the OBD port, does this cause the problem of battery drain requiring the battery disconnect reset procedure? If not, why not? Is there a secret reset code that dealers use? Perhaps tuner/hacks could figure it out if a secret OBD reset code exists. That would be brilliant.
This is uncharted territory for me...........

Jaguars tool to communicate with the vehicle is infinitely more complex than anything we use. I would imagine that the vehicle has a security gateway that communicates with their software and prevents issues like this from occurring when you're plugged in/disconnecting. Their tool likely sends a reset message to the vehicle after the CAN bus system has been read/flashed as a part of the checksum process post communication. This isn't something we can really rig up, so for now we'll just have to deal.
Even when the dealers tap in, they can trigger the problem. I had to discover the battery disconnect procedure long before I was tapping the OBD myself because of the various dealer updates. Since the "Enhancement Letter" update, the issue has not occurred.
