Interesting. Why wouldn't the instruction just say to hook up the power supply while the battery is still connected? Maybe they know about the issue but don't have a fix?

That's what I am suspecting.

I'm going to replace the "honda meep" sound with a more appropriate arming "beep" (perhaps similar to toyota).

Anyone found a device that makes the correct sound? I know how/where to hook it up, just need to source a 12v beeper.

I know you can turn off the honda meep, but if a friend pushes the door handle while i am inside the car, it still "meeps" which as noted is a really terrible sound.

I did, but you need to know how to read wiring diagram to find the correct wires to hook it up right. I have not investigated how to prevent the horn from going off when someone pushed the door handle. I will look at the electrical wiring diagram to see if the unlock/lock module connects directly to the horn output, if it connects through the CANBUS there is not much one can do without hacking into the software.

Edit: It looks like it might be possible to disable the horn at the BCM (Body Control Module). It appears the steering wheel horn trigger is on a different relay than the horn from the central locking system, which indicates you can disable the the central locking from setting off the horn, but the downside and a reason not to do that is that this also means you are essentially disabling the audible theft alarm as well. Reprogramming the BCM is the only way to do this perfectly.

I already have all the technical details worked out so I'll have a solution for this evil horn as soon as the new beeper arrives which should be in about a week.

I'll post detailed instructions here once I install mine. Looks like it will be pretty straight forward and inexpensive.

Just unplug it, its not the same a the vehicle horn, at least in the 20R. I actually unplugged mine and plugged in a 12v piezo beeper so now all I get is very subdued chirp chirp.
