Or should I just assume a formal notice like this is literally a massive update to the car, and I should just go with that?

Will it alter the cars joy joy in any way?
Based on what zmoothg found, what I cited is merely an SDD diagnostic tool update. The most recent stereo update is the JTB00537NAS2

Looks like someone is going after Jaguar. Someone should take them to court for the OBD problem: http://gotaclassaction.com/wp-conten...uar-3-1-17.pdf

So I don't know how he's going to prove conspiracy theory that Jaguar knowingly released faulty software/hardware to the masses wrt the infotainment system. I would say anybody claiming they released a totally perfect system needs their head bumps examined.

By way of "loss incurred" he claims Diminished Value. Yet he is leasing his 2016 Xf so he isn't going to experience any DV - that's going to be Chase or US Bank.

And nothing about OBD gremlins that I could see.

But I suppose on the bright side I might get a check from Jaguar for 32c

No...you can use it as often as need. Just reboot the module every time you do.

Disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes.

Disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds is more than enough.

Thanks for the clarification. I was making a conservative guess - luckily I've never fallen victim to this glitch myself.

For '15 does the start/stop battery need to be disconnected along with main battery?

I don't think so, but I really don't know for certain.

No, I did not. I carefully reviewed with them before hand what they were going to do and made certain they were not going to flash the ECM. To be safe, though, you might want to temporarily flash back to the oem file.

Unhinged,
So yousimply asked them to exclude the engine software portion of the upgrade and they listened??

They confirmed there was no engine upgrade to be done. I had already had the O2 upgrades done before I started tuning. If they had wanted to flash the ECU, I would have reverted to the OEM tune, let them do their thing and then worked with VAP to overlay my current performance tune on top of the new OEM tune.

This is great information for the future. I think my car needed a 2nd O2 sensor update (K433) which they did last week. My car was at OEM tune when I took it in, after I received the car back, I put back on the VAP tune, I guess I basically undid the updata.

I guess I need to tell them to redo the update ?

If you redo the update and want to put the tune on, you'll need to have VAP redo your tune with the associated updated file as a base.

.+1. You'll probably have to send the handheld back to VAP so that they can wipe it to enable you to download the new OEM file. Check with Stuart.

If you have received the "enhancement letter" updates, this may no longer be an issue for you. Those updates resolved the issue for me.
