Battery Replacement
Hi all
Is there a special procedure to replace the battery in an F Type?
I'm just wondering why the dealer wants to charge me 1 and a half to 2 hours labour rates just to replace the battery.

It´s because the battery-management in the car has to be programmed for the new battery. It´s an intelligent system which knows, how much to load in the old battery.
Now there is a new one and you have to program it to the car, so it can loaded with the right power.

Lots here have put a new battery in an F-Type without resetting the battery management system and without any problems.
The BMS resets itself anyway after 4 or 5 drive cycles.
IMHO it's a con by dealerships to get you to come in and buy a battery from them (at double or triple the price from a battery store) and to charge you a motza for the labour with added "BMS reset tax" on top.
When fitting a battery yourself the most important thing is to disconnect the negative lead from the old battery first then the positive, then the reverse when connecting the new battery - positive lead first, negative lead second. Don't forget the earth/ground lead as well (last).
Also, whack the "new" battery on a tender for a few hours before you shove it in the car, often they have been sitting on the shelf for months and even years and are down a bit on charge.
The hardest part is wiggling and lifting the old battery out and the new battery in, it weighs a ton!
Buy a new battery yourself and fit it yourself and save a few $100.

Yikes how many ah in an f type battery ? An 80 ah lithium is about a grand. But it would be nice being the last battery youll have to buy.
The OEM F-Type battery is 95 ah.

Agreed, and 850CCA. Here are the specs for the OEM Varta (what was in my ‘14)...

Keep in mind that a 60 ah Lithium battery has an equivalent capacity to that of a 95 ah lead battery. I have been using an RS-30 lithium (30ah) for some time now with no issue, and I never used a tender Despite occasionally leaving the car sit for weeks at a time. At $625 that I paid for it at the time, probably not much more than letting a dealer install an OEM battery.

my battery was replaced with a Varta G14 battery.
The battery management was reset but not by a Jaguar dealer. the system used picked up 2 batteries in my car, however, we could not find the second battery.
the diagnostic system shows that the second battery is not holding charge. Could this be the reason for all the issues I've been having, even after the main battery was replaced?
Where would this second battery be located?

I say "was" coz I removed it a few months ago.
Yup, that’s where mine is. Haven’t paid any attention to it, but should probably remove it as I don’t intend to replace it when/if it’s dead.
But with a wobble extension on the socket wrench it was fairly easy to get at that bolt.
