Default Before your warranty expires!

My car has over 40k. No more warranty.
Decided to go to my trusted mechanic for an oil change. He suggested to use the drain plug this time to make sure we get all residual oil out.

4 screws took off the bottom cover. We immediately noticed something unsettling. Everything was covered in oil. It appears that it has been this way for some time. Why was this never noticed before? Because the bottom cover has absorbing material that soaks up all the oil drips.
I wish I would have taken pictures.
He said it looks like it is just an oil pan gasket and should be fairly easy.

So.. before your warranty expires.. have someone take your bottom cover off and do a quick visual inspection.

Indeed. Definitely worth checking.

When I had my clutch and flywheel replaced they discovered a leaking rear main seal. That's not such an easy fix.

Fyi the suction tube goes to the lowest part on the pan not the drain plug.
