Brand New F-Type/Engine Transmission Warning On
I have a 2017 F-type with less than 3,000 miles on it and today the engine transmission warning light is amber while the engine is running. Am I correct that this is often a sensor issue and not something more serious? I did tighten the gas cap but that doesn't seem to do the trick. Taking the car to the dealership this week, but not happy that I'm potentially having a problem with a brand new car. Thanks.
Could be anything. If you want a better idea of what you're looking at, take it to the local auto parts store and ask them to pull the codes for you. Then report back and I/we can help you understand what could be wrong.
If you only have 3,000 miles on it, then it's in warranty, you wont have to pay anything. It's possible it could just need a software update, the earlier F-Types needed a software update for the ECM/PCM due to O2 sensors. Better off taking it to the dealer, that way they can check to see if there are any campaigns open that could be related to the warning.
Of course the warning light went off as I was driving to the dealership today. They checked the codes and didn't find anything wrong, but there is a bulletin out for a software update so they are guessing that's the issue. Getting that done next week.
I've had a couple of fuel cap warnings lately but I get a clear message that says "Check fuel cap." It's seemed OK both times but I'll be mentioning it when I go for my next service.

There should have been a DTC stored. There are 2 bulletins in relation to Check Engine Light being illuminated, one relating to O2 sensors & ECM/PCM software update, and the other having a certain DTC logged & updating ECM/PCM software.
You'll find on a lot of these new vehicles, software updates will fix most issues.
As for lizzardo...... you may just need a new fuel cap. I can't see anything on Topix relating to fuel cap/emissions system faults, but I'm in a different market, so some things don't show up on my side.

I've got a screw loose behind the wheel, but it's never cause a light to come on. It has affected fuel economy and tire wear though.
I have a loose nut in that same location causing similar issues.
