Default Buying an Ftype R. Need advice

Hey guys,

I have a few questions and need all the advice you can offer.
I have a chance to buy an 2017 F-type R in the USA. It comes with the extended Leather Package. Brand new with less than 10 miles on it. It is ammonite, which is my 2nd choice in color. My 1st color choice would be Rhodium silver, but the dealer says he cant find any. He stated that only this one Ammonite ftype R is at port. (Port seemingly is the only place this Jaguar dealer pulls cars from) They are offering me the car for $99,085 after a 12K discount.

So my various questions are:

1. Is there any other way to find a Rhodium 2017 New F type R that I can direct the dealership to get?

2. Does anyone here have the extended Leather Package? If so, what is your opinion of it? is it maintaining well or getting cracks and flaky? Can any of you provide Pictures of the extended Leather ?

3. The 2018 F types are coming soon. The dealer is vague on when they arrive. (i think, because he wants to sell the 2017) From what I see on the jaguar website where I build my own.. It seems that I could easily get a new 2018 F type R for about 4 thousand more! If I do that option I could at least get my 1st color choice. The down side is that I am not a bug fan of the redesigned front end, the lights and the thinner seats. It is growing on me slightly but not convinced. Do any of you have the 2018, and if so can you provide me various pictures, especially of the interior ? also If you have driven a previous versions and now have the 2018.. Can you tell me your opinion of the 2018. Do you like the seats, the lights? why do you like them or not?

4. Do you think $99,058 is a good price for a 2017 f type r thats new? If not what talking points can I use to try to bring the dealer cost down?

Thanks guys, I look forward to hearing your advice.

I'd be suspect on his "at port" comment. $12K off for an R is a decent figure but I have seen a number of R's in the Rhodium silver for a lower asking price so you could likely find the EXACT car you are seeking and possible for less.

This dealership has both a convertible as well as a Hard top

Here is a nice looking Silver one for $95K

Check the silver R's on this site. It will show new ones also. The menu is on the left of the web page.

Just for clarity... SOME are able to get "as much as" 20% off but many dealers are bulking at such a number. There is a $5K dealer incentive for '17s that "may" be able to be doubled to $10K off if, but only IF, a dealer has made their numbers for the month. There is another $2K buyer "rebate" and there may be another $1K or $2K for JCNA members. Normal dealer profit is around 4% so in order for the dealer to be able to take 20% off, they are basically only making about a grand and getting the credit from JLR for moving a unit. Not a HUGE incentive for them so don't be surprised if any one, or multiple, dealers aren't willing to go that low.

about a month ago 2 dealers in my area were doing 10-12% off 2017's in port (after pushing them a little). I would imagine you can bump that up by a couple percentage points now or in another month. Personally, the color is very important to me. If I were you I may just do the 2018. If not, its a lot of money to spend to not have your #1 color option.

Insist on Michelins.
