Default Which car battery for 2015 F-Type R?

Hello all,

Which car battery should I get for the 15' R? I don't need anything fancy so I was looking at the Duralast Platinum H8-AGM for $240. https://www.autozone.com/batteries-starting-and-charging/battery/p/duralast-platinum-agm-battery-h8-agm-group-size-49-900-cca/319459_0_0

I've seen a lot of $800 batteries and was wondering if there was a particular reason I would need those more expensive ones. I have a radar detector, dash cam, and some chargers and interior lights plugged in the car.

Some guidance would be appreciated. My car battery is maybe dead and looking at some options to see if replacing it can start the car again.

The one you show will be perfectly OK - 900 CCA (stock 850), 95 Ah (same as stock), same dimensions and same terminal type and orientation as stock.
When I put my car specs into that Autozone page it brings up that exact same battery!

Perfect thank you, I will buy this if my battery is indeed actually dead and hopefully gets the car going.

IMPORTANT! New batteries are almost never fully charged at purchase. Charge the new battery first or insist that it be charged before you take it. And if you do not use the car very regularly for significant distances, invest in a good battery maintainer (and use it).

Yes, I was planning on this. If it can't be charged or isn't should I charge it on itself or after I put it in my car and have connected the terminals to it?

It is best to charge the battery fully *before* installing/connecting it. Like all modern luxury cars, the F-Type is full of electronic modules that demand full battery voltage - when they do not get full voltage, strange things happens and these strange things can be in ANY system that depends on the modules. If your pattern of use is infrequent and/or short runs, your battery may never get to full charge unless 1) it is charged before installation and 2) you use regularly a good battery minder (the CTEK units are favoured but there are also other good brands).

If you're on your original battery, you're overdue. Go ahead and make the change now - before you get stuck somewhere, at night, raining, and the car is locked. The problems you may get into are a lot greater than the "time value" of an extra month or two on the price of a battery. Meanwhile, I second the comments about getting the new battery fully charged. FWIW, I got my replacement battery at Costco for $211, although I had to go through the minor effort to install it myself. If you get a battery from a parts store, many/most will do the installation for you.

I believe this is the battery I installed in my car in ‘20, no issues. As suggested, put it on a charger.

Also, the first one I got had a cracked case, which I discovered when I got home. They swapped it, but it’s heavy so inspect it before you leave the store.

I ended up going to Costco because it was a $180 instead and got this https://costco.interstatebatteries.c...068&Country=US

Seems to be the same specs as t he Duralast and cheaper. Ran into a problem with the BMS chip on the negative terminal as per my other thread so unfortunately I have to wait for my replacement piece. Thank you all for the help and suggestions. This battery was checked and charged to 90% so it definitely needed to be charged but otherwise passed load test.
