I have no issues if a part is broken and it is replaced. What I have an issue with, is if there was body damage and the car was painted (something that would impact resale) and that is not disclosed. Maybe I'm the only one, but if I buy a "new" car from a dealer and then 3-years I go back and trade it in and they take $5k off the trade-in value because it was repainted and I didn't know about; that doesn't seem fair to the buyer of a car.

I understand cars get damaged during shipping, my point is that if it crosses a certain threshold (something that could impact resale), you'd think a manufacturer would be required to disclose it.

The above scenario is not exclusive to the shipping process. Cars are routinely flagged during the assembly and inspection process to address 'issues'- including panel repaint as required. There is no such thing as a 100% perfect virgin car.

This also does not address subcomponents being damaged and repaired by component suppliers to Jag themselves, long before the car has started down the assembly line.
