Thanks for pointing this out. I may be able to change the CNC cut path to make the 2014-15 F-type cover I'm working on now fit. I will keep this in mind while designing.
If necessary, I will make a mold for this as well. I just need to get my hands on once to scan and reverse engineer.

Thanks again guys.

I'm waiting to hear about the other covers, hoping to get photos today or first of the week.

I'll work on the models for the engine covers through the weekend and try to have a few designs to vote on soon.

(Side note, test fitted HighFlow cats for XKR/XK and they fit up very nicely. I have the Ftype V6 fixture build, I just need to toss the money into building a set)

Thanks Derek... you are The Man!!!

If you can't source a '16 AWD cover locally, let me know and I will send you mine since the car is in storage for winter.

Little update guys. I'm working on the a few versions for a poll. I'm working on a louvered design currently for the F-type setups. I'm leaving the space open on the side so those that want to add the Chrome supercharged tag.
I'm thinking about having some decals red/silver that will be applied into the clear , this will have a nice look.

I'd like to get some feedback on what you guys think as this will be a group decision about which design I generate a mold for.

The other panels will be complete next week.

I rendered without carbon so that you can see the details. I was lazy and did not spend the time to get a good carbon look in the render but this demonstrates the direction I'm heading.

My thoughts were to add the louvers to aide in heat dissipation but still hide the ugly cooler casting. As many I'm sure noticed the factory cover was removed on the Project 7 for this reason.

My druthers would be for you to inlay the 3 silver bars that appear on the OEM unit, leave off the huge red/silver "supercharged" inlay, and leave the space for the "supercharged" emblems that Mina Gallery can provide.

Thanks.

The red or silver decal will only be an option, not standard.

The 3 bar inlay, I could leave a recessed boss location for the bars, I do not think these are a replaceable part from Jaguar and tooling them will be a headache. I'll have to give this some thought on how to incorporate.

Derek,
I think you are on the right track with the 3 recessed channels. On the OEM cover, those raised strips are a part of the plastic mold like the Jaguar letters and are similarly surface painted with metallic gray paint. With recessed channels it would be easy to apply primer and then a high temp chrome paint (wouldn't really need to be high temp).

Derek,

I like the louvered design a lot. I also agree with Unhingd that you should just leave off the supercharged decals.

If you leave off the large "supercharged" decals you could widen each column of louvers for even more airflow and, I believe, a better look.

Yes, I'd rather gain function over flash, although the cover should should still scream quality. More opportunity for heat removal certainly can't hurt.

Yes, big slits/louvers for heat dissipation is a smart idea for CF cover.

Wink God willing and if its meant to be .....

I will have a 2017 R Coupe for this summer. I already know what cosmetic upgrades I will immediately do, add fixed rear wing spoiler by Piecha, change the front bumper to the SVR version if it doesn't come with the car and if price is right, I'd be very interested in changing the engine cover for the vented CF cover because it will have function, not just eye candy purpose .

Thanks a lot for the feedback guys. I'm taking the evening off from my race seat developments to focus on this.
I think we are all on the same page with design. I have always been one to design for function not just aesthetics. I believe we are hitting both here.

I'll see if I can open the vents a little more in the design and gain a little more ventilation and address the lettering areas.

As an option do you guys want me to investigate lettering options? For instance F-Type, Jaguar, Supercharged etc. I have a local company that has a material that I can cure into the carbon during the oven process for a nice finish.

I'll work on the design more to incorporate the 3 bar embosses down the middle and post some renders for review shortly.

Derek, I think another area worth looking into is the plastic fake carbon fiber dash/shifter bezel trim that badly needs a real carbon equivalent. I believe the plastic pieces are some of the cheapest looking bits in the car's interior and I think you would have a market. They are purely cosmetic, but if you are already designing and fabricating.....what do you think.

I have a roll of carbon fiber twill and epoxy sitting in my garage ready for a hand wet lay skin, but it's pretty hard to get small pieces like that to fit properly with the extra thickness.

Default Derek ....

I personally think the word SuperCharged is better than F Type. As a suggestion, maybe incorporate the R logo along with the S/C word.

Bad idea, all engine covers are the same whether on a V6 or V8, base, S, or R, which makes it possible to sell these covers to a broader market.

I'd be fine with the silver bars in the center and no other lettering. We could customize with OEM emblems such as the leaper and Jaguar lettering from the spoiler. I suspect the OEM supercharged plates could also be purchased.

I understand. Didn't think about that from a marketing point of view.

Lightbulb Idea for Foosh ...

Foosh, don't put the F Type logo on the cover. Its like having the word Vette appear on an engine cover for a Corvette. Everyone knows its a Vette.
Suggestion, how about putting the British flag logo somewhere on the cover. Yes ? Do so would give the engine bay a very cool vibe! What do you think .

I never said anything about putting "F-Type" on it. I mentioned "JAGUAR" or the "leaper" as possibilities, but no Union Jack for me.

Just an idea. Look forward to seeing the finished prototype cover.
