At some point in time a Lamborghini was a special car in my mind. I think. It's hard to remember if such a time existed. I've had my f type R for a while now.
The other day I walked into the Lamborghini dealership and thought to myself, hey, if I can afford an f type, I can afford a huracan. It's only true if I decided I didn't care about my future, but whatever. I asked them to open it up, and while they were taking their time, I examined the car. I was not impressed. It didn't look beautiful, just weird. It was pretty enough, but not gorgeous. Simply put, I wasn't taken by its looks. And a v10? I have a supercharged v8, so... hmm... I guess a v12 is a cooler concept.
By the time they brought the lambo sales guy said who said he was in the middle of a sale and was too busy for me, I wasn't really interested. And I didn't get upset at him either (I melt pondered at how much better a sales man I would be). Sure, I'd like to sit in one, and I'm curious to know what a v10 would feel like, but that's all it is. I don't feel like exotics are exotic. To me, they're merely a curiosity.

A V10 R8 with an APR tune and 6-speed gated shifter would be my choice over most Lambos. The R8 is detuned greatly. Easier car to live with and still considered a super car, but you the owner doesn't appear to be as much the attention *****.

If I ever wanted a super car to OWN it would be an R8. To lust after, a Huracan.

For the best fun for the $$ the F-type R.

That's about as wishful as me wanting a 6 or 7 speed R.

When I feel like owning a cheese wedge I pop down to the grocery store. No need to visit the local Lambo dealer.

Had to go back and fix my typos. But yeah, I thought that when I saw it in person it would be different. I thought there were lines that just don't show up in 2D. Nope. "wedge" describes it well enough.

LOL, it's good to know there's someone else out there who also thinks that most of the exotic "supercars" aren't desirable looking at all.

The Huracan and the 458/488 are genuinely superb cars to drive. They are in a different league to the cars we drive, cost wise but also performance wise. The precision, the attention to detail, the finesse instantly transitioning to brutality when desired. Our cars are excellent for what they are, but let's not kid ourselves, cars like the Huracan and its peers are several levels up the scale. For what it's worth I personally find the Huracan to be better looking than our cars, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I've also found Lambo, Ferrari and McLaren dealers I've talked with to be less stuffy than popular perception would have you believe.

The low-range Lamborghinis in particular have been really sloppily designed.

Lambo doesn't have Ferrari's sense of restraint when it comes to model differentiation so while it's higher end cars have more or less retained their radical heritage, the designers for the Gallardo and the Huracan basically raided the discarded sketch bins of the Countach and used rectilinear lines that a 4 year old could draw by looking at a doorstop!

It feels like they are overly fearful of compromising the exclusivity of their range topping offerings and so have inadvertently diluted the brand.

Lambo hasn't made a "beautiful" car since the Miura, but their cars certainly command attention. The Aventador may be the ugliest Lambo since the Countach. To my eye, Ferrari does a better job of making their cars look modern, yet classic and sensual.

Different strokes for different folks I guess because I think the Huracan is absolutely gorgeous and really kind of a bargain in the supercar world. I've thought about possibly trading my F-Type in on one within the next year or two.

Chuckle.....are not the terms "bargain" and "supercar" contradictory and mutually exclusive? 😬
