Default Convertible Smart Top operational!

The mods4cars.com convertible smart top is operational. Here is what currently works.

One-Touch open/close from inside the car.
Closing windows automatically after closing the top.
Open/Close the top via original key fob remote.
Open/Close the windows via original key fob remote.

If you have had this mod ina ny of your other convertibles you know how awesome it is and love the new capabilities.

One of our members donated his vehicle to make this all a possibility!!!

The work continues and I suspect a final product will be available fairly soon. The point of contact for it is Sven Tornow at Mods4cars. His contact information is below.

Best Regards, Sven Tornow

Definitely in for this.

Had a smart top on my 911 and it was awesome - addressed those same inexplicable factory omissions that we have on our cars...

Wow! You beat me to it, Walt. Picked my car up yesterday from Stefan who did the heavy lifting on getting this to work. The module tucks under the left filler flap for the top and will require no tools to install at all. In addition to what's mentioned above, for those of you who find the operation of the top button backwards you'll be able to reverse it. Additionally, you can alarm the car even while the top is still going up and you can also flip the behavior of the windows with the top-down function. This is the first 'vert I've ever owned so I've never known these kind of features were missing and honestly, I was skeptical =as to their value but after seeing the Smart Top in action on my car I would definitely say it's worth it.

Great! I'm glad you are happy with it. I had
one in my C4S years ago and loved it. Definitely
worth having.

Evl5 - you will be able to install it yourself. Only takes a few minutes.

Stefan said they needed to get a harness made and they want to take another few shots of the device in my car for the docs. So, they're close to being available but there's still a little more to do.

I was playing with it last night and still stand by my prior comments - this mod is DEFINITELY worth it.

It is, and you know what? You deserve some thanks for allowing your car to be used as the initial test bed! So thank you! I know there was some early concerns however as you now have seen it was well worth the effort. Especially in LAS where you can have the top coming down while you are walking to the car allowing it to start cooling off the interior.

Thanks, Walt. After dealing directly with Stefan I can tell you the Smart Top guys are good guys and good engineers.

Gene - you will be able to do the install yourself with no tools required. The unit is small and tucks under the left flap for the convertible top. You stop the top operation when the flap is opened, install the device and continue the top operation. There will be complete instructions with the unit as well as photos of the install.

Please keep in mind I am not associated with the manufacturer of the Smart Top at all (I merely let them use my car to adapt their product to the F-Type) so all final details, pricing, etc will come from them. I'm just passing on what I saw and what they told me when I picked up my car.
