cross bar in front grill
The smog testing doesn't kick in until the car is at least 6 years old. I never keep my cars that long so I can't remember the last time I had to get a smog check.
I'm in CA, don't run front plates. hate it. ruins the car. It's an expensive fix it ticket, think $150. In my experience, it's not the police or the CHP that pulls you over for no front plates...it's the meter maids!!!! I've gotten 2 no front plates ticket, both time by meter maid when I parked in downtime san francisco.
I don't run front plates here in CA, never had an issue. I did become a member of the CHP 1911 also and have the plate surround on the back so that helps. Not had one ticket yet in nearly a year of ownership but have been stopped a couple of times downtown so they could 'look at it'. That was last year when the F-Type was very new.
Regarding the front bar, the -E-Type Series 1 and 2 had one and the jaguar badge sat in the middle. It looked great and was more integrated with the car design I feel. The F-Types looks like something that was a late design decision since the design styling is taken from the CX-75 (no bar). It is ok but yes, the F-Type looks better in the F-Type 7 style. I think the arden picture with the red mouth looks good however the red bumper bits and the leaper look *****. There was no leaper on the E-Type or D-Type!

Here in Colorado they rarely pull you over without a front plate, although the motorcycle guys might because they like the plate for laser ticketing, but it's a given you will get a "no front plate" parking ticket if you park downtown or at the airport and they do add up.
If anyone has installed a hidden plate on an F type can they post some pictures? This is on my winter project list. For those less mechanically inclined I've found another option on eBay that would solve my parking problem...
