Is there any such thing like a list that a dealer will use when you pick up your car?
For example, if I look at the manual, it states that Passive Arming can only be disabled/enabled by the Dealer. There are a few other things like this as well. Maybe this list also has what the defaults are.
It would be good to know what one's choices are ahead of time.

Indeed, that would be very helpful so that the features can be researched and contemplated during the (in my case 9 month) wait period. I certainly would have no patience for that at time of delivery. Just give me the f...ing keys!

WHOA! Hold on here Lance!!!
You have the remarkable patience to wait 9 months for...eh...your baby, but you claim to not have the patience to go through some interesting and potentially helpful hints, tricks, suggestions, etc. at pick-up? I understand that the more you know beforehand is surely a benefit - and there's nothing to say you (you of all people) will know more [lots more] than the salesperson/dealer does - but I find it difficult to fathom that you won't have the patience, excitedly so no doubt, to do the dance at the dealers....
Until that day...
Best regards,
Jay
P.S. Today was just too lovely to NOT take my V6S out for a spin. And, no, I am NOT posting that bit just to make you jealous...just stating a fact. (And I know you'll be happy I did).

Patience is only for those things beyond my control. The minute that car arrives at the dealer (25 minutes thereafter to be more precise), I expect to exchange a check for some keys and disappear for a few days. The spousal unit is already on notice. But thanks, Jay, for trying to keep up my spirits in the meantime.

Not to worry. Having a car like that sitting in the garage and not being able to drive it, has to be worse than not having it at all. Anyway, at this point I'm living vicariously through all the stories and anecdotes everyone on the forum is sharing. Thanks to all of you for that.

The manual reads like only a dealer can do these which means the service department has to get into the SW which means it is done before pickup.
Back to the original question, did anybody get asked about these items before pickup or were they all done at pickup or was it something else or was it just not done and defaults were used?
Lance and I woukd like to know, and I'm sure Trevor would too.
Porsche has dozens of settings through Piwis such as side markers on/off, side mirror turn down in reverse, one button up/down windows etc. Same for Audi. Have not heard anybody program anything on Jags other than through the center console.
When I went to do the paperwork several days before picking the car up (it had arrived, but needed to be prepped), the salesman took me through a list of configuration options that the car could be programmed with so they could set it up as I wanted. From memory it was. Jaguar form.

Thanks. Next time I'm at the dealer's I'll ask him for it and hopefully post here.

Could it possibly be that all is programmable through the console, but as convenience the dealership sets it up for the customer? Otherwise most buyers won't ever have it set up the way they really want if they have to do it themselves.

You should receive a configuration sheet from your dealer.
As part of the 'setup' process some of the programming is done via the OBD port.
Other more common configuration menus can be setup also from the onboard menu settings e.g mph/km etc.
This is an snippet from the MY2015 Configuration list, with the options that I chose to have 'On' or enabled.
Not all models in the U.S. have all the options. However, if it is equipped with a particular feature, it will be in the "vehicle set-up" category seen on the instrument cluster, which is activated by the menu button on the left side of the steering wheel or on the center touch screen home menu. You simply use up/down/left/right arrows to select and the menu button to enter an option.
When I picked up my car, my very intelligent saleswoman, who was well-versed in all aspects of the F-Type, had me in the driver's seat, programming all my choices as she led me through the menu during the delivery orientation. We went through every subject menu on both steering wheel menu and touch screen. It took less than 15 minutes, and she didn't use or need a list.

Glad you worked with someone who knew their stuff! I work at a dealer in LA and do the same thing. I usually ask the customer their preferences on a couple features (global window open, 2-stage unlocking, mirror dip, mirror fold, button beep, etc.) while they're waiting to sign paperwork and then set the car up for them while they sign.
There is a form that Jag has with a huge list of personalization options, but it's too long and over complicated. Never used it and probably never will.
That's a good approach for a lot of customers, and she offered that, but I learn better by doing and requested that she go through everything with me, while I performed the steps. I actually found the majority of setting options on the F-Type to be very user-friendly, but she easily filled in the gaps without hesitation.
I do respect and appreciate salespeople who've done the homework on the product they represent. Unfortunately, way too many don't. That's why I was so incredibly impressed with the young woman I worked with on my F-Type purchase. She earned a very long and glowing review from me as a result.
Definitely true and I will tailor my approach depending on the driver. Some people are more "hands on" than others. The features discussed here (global open, mirror fold, etc) are usually set and then never touched again, so I find that most people are ok with me setting them ahead of time.
I'll bet your young woman appreciated the review! It's always great when someone is happy and willing to share their experience. Too often the only people who take the time to write something are the angry people....
