Waterless wash does not scratch car. Must have some of the characteristics of quick detailers. Go to Chemical Guys website and watch video. They have video on most of their products. I find product leaves car looking just polished. I do have to use water to clean soft top once in awhile, I usually do that day before with soft water, Vegas water is very hard we all have softener systems!

What do you guys use for tar removal? I've used lighter fluid on lesser cars, but not on the Jag!

I use the Auto Finesse Citrus Power. For the really stubborn items they also have a specific Tar & Glue remover called ObliTARate. Most product lines will have something similar.

Stoner's Tarminator - can be had at most Walmart's, as well as Amazon.

Once again, designed to be used on automotive paint...and it works flawlessly.

Between using the Sonax Wheel Cleaner and those, not inexpensive but fabulous, Wheel Woolies, the inside of my wheels have never been cleaner (since the day I took delivery of it).

Simply brilliant, literally and figuratively. Love that Sonax so much I just ordered their Tire Gel. (What do you guys use for tire dressing?).

Thanks guys!
Jay

Anyone use Swissvax Crystal Rock? At $1499 for 200ml, it's a bargain. No, I didn't miss the decimal point.
Swissvax USA: Crystal Rock - Paul Dalton's state-of-the-art Carnauba-Glaze, 200ml

I love my wheel woolies!

I just put a wheel wax (Auto Finesse Mint Rims) on a few weeks ago. It cuts down tremendously on the dust that sticks. A quick spray with wheel cleaner and hosing them down gets them to 95%. i was otherwise doing a full clean on the wheels every 4-5 days because there was soo much brake dust.

I think I know why you've asked that question about tar and, presumably, bug removal. On the drive to work today (as well as the drive back) the F-Type got assaulted by every bug the State of Maine could throw, fly, at it. Obviously that's a gross over statement but with the warmer weather...lets just say the bugs are out in force.

Locust anyone?

Actually, was going to wax the Jag a couple of weeks ago until I noticed how much tar was on the rocker panels. Got a Turtlewax product at Walmart that seems to work pretty well. Got the car waxed on Sunday.

Yeah, the bugs are horrible. Black flies are out, and mosquitoes are just appearing. Oh joy...

wheels were a little dirty so gave them a quick rinse today before heading out to an appointment and wanted to snap a few quick pics for you guys.

Auto Finesse Mint Rims was applied a few weeks ago. Using AF Iron Out - spray, let sit for 60ish seconds plus a light rinse no scrubbing at all. The only parts that had any brake dust left were the very heavily caked areas that i missed with the Iron Out. I went back and cleaned those areas up really quickly.

Please add a MASSIVE +1 from me on Sonax FULL EFFECT wheel cleaner

The FULL EFFECT formula is totally acid free and yet liquefies brake dust with ease, turning it a bright red so you can actually see the product working.

I've had it on my hands for long periods of time and also on my paintwork with no adverse affects. As long as it's the FULL EFFECT version it does exactly what it says it will do, full stop

I've also used petrol before for a quick wipe over on previous cars, quickly followed by a hot soapy wash mitt, with no ill effects

Have you tried Autoglym Tar and glue remover?
Good stuff.

I've always used Full Effect, but just ordered the Plus. Plus goes on clear, then turns red and is supposedly 30% stronger. Still acid free and pH balanced, however.

I'll report back with a comparison next time I clean the car.

What garage?

The perils of living in Philadelphia. I'm lucky to have off street parking in my neighborhood.
