For those that have replaced the stock midrange speakers in the doors with something other than the JLR "premium" drivers, how deep is your replacement and did you need to modify the inside panel to accommodate? The replacements I'll be using are about 45mm deep.
I tried AudioFrog GB25's and they bottomed out on the door. Morel MM3's fit fine.
There's only an 1/8 difference listed in the specs but I mounted them a little differently.
I used the supplied mount with the GB's because they have a smaller diameter and mounted that to the trim panel.
Disregard all the foam, I tried cutting out the back door panel to make room and then sealing it with the foam. Unmitigated disaster.
With the MM3's I just cut the guts out of the existing mid drivers and mount the MM3's to the resulting ring which then went back on the trim panel.
Just be aware that the MM3's are quite wide at their base and the spade connections need to be modified a bit because they will bottom out and break the circuit board they are mounted on.
Ask me how I know.
I cut most of the plastic collar away from the quick disconnects and then secured the circuit board with some butyl tape.

Thanks. So the GB25 are supposed to be 41mm and the MM3 are 38mm . I've got Xcelsus XXM325 and they are 39mm. Of course these are all the top mount depth so thickness of the flange will play a factor for us bottom mounting. It sounds like I'll be VERY close and hopefully on the good side. The motor on the XXM325 is relatively narrow compared to the MM3 so that should help.

Looks like sensitivity on these are a little low at 84db but it should be fine. After putting the DED unit in and getting rid of the jaguar amplifier and all of the processing that came with it, I had to cut my MM3's back about 9db. I kind of understand now why the jaguar amp was cutting so much signal out of the midranges band, they are right on top of you where they are installed.
I really like reading about all the intricate and technical stuff F-Type owners do to their cars. I truly am impressed...and humbled. Honest! I'm also gun shy (particularly lazy too) when it comes to tearing apart an expensive (according to my bank account) vehicle. Aside from being fascinated, the work many of you have done and problems encountered has enabled me to talk the talk with my service advisor and technician whenever I think that I have an issue. More often than not I find that I've assumed a lot worse than is really the case; however, I'm gratified by thinking I know anuff to keep the technician honest. He probably thinks I've been reading too much about things I don't understand on the Jaguar Forum. What can I say? He'd be correct. ;-)

if the factory audio setup wasn't garbage, believe me I wouldn't have done went down this path. It's be a long road but can now say 7g later, it sounds incredible.
