In drive mode not moving engine running
Hi to my fellow jag owners. 2016 V6 S,63,000 miles. Love this car and while driving yesterday meeting friends my car stopped moving forward. Engine running because tach moving to go pedal. Dash full of lights only remember not seeing limp mode and gear shift had the D flashing. Pulled over on a narrow country road trying to shift into D, engine revs but no go. Don’t recall any dash info at this time looking in rear view mirror with hazard lights flashing. No go in D put in reverse and yes that works, put in D and that worked no info on dash. Took her home and missed out on a great day with friends. Back story jag on c tech when not driving and that was the case yesterday. I did check my cig lighter gismo and it showed 12.5 when on side of road. the battery is about 1 year old and yes I had interstate fully charge battery overnight before installation. When in garage jag is always on c tech. I’ll take to my indie on Monday for a diagnostic test. The jag just suddenly stopped moving forward like it was in neutral. Today I’ll check battery connection and negative ground in boot. I’ll report back if I find anything. Thank you in advance for any insight into my situation. I rely on this excellent forum with more actionable information from drivers, it helped me in the past. One more thing I don’t remember all the dash icons flashing only that it wasn’t in limp mode. No dash icons while driving home 5 miles, a couple hours later jag started up and went into D and reverse no problem no dash icons. No info when I went into menu and checked for last fault. I’m not rebooting battery so indie can plug in for any codes, I did not see any on dash. Cheers Frank
Issues with MANY makes of cars respond favorably to a restart these days. Lucky you!
Hopefully it is something easy...as if a shift sensor **thought** you put the shifter in N after going over a bump.
The flashing D might be another issue, prob had a code set.
Post back with the results of diagnostics.

Hi fellow members. I may have found the reason why this happened. As the forum always say “start with the battery “ well I checked the connections and the positive was not entirely secure, I could wiggle the connection. I did tighten it somewhat but could still wiggle. Tomorrow to the interstate battery store for their assessment on how to proceed, they installed the battery. The post may be too small for the positive cable or it can be tightened some more. I will still have my indie do a diagnostic search for codes.
Cheers Frank

If an undersized battery terminal turns out to be the issue, post the brand. Have heard of this more than once on other replacement batteries.
Maybe you only need this $.99 fix?

Ok first let me clarify that it was the negative cable that was loose. It was tightened and no codes were found and no engine check light ever was on. All good. Cheers Frank
Now, how about adding the word SOLVED to the title? the existing title is perfect ammunition for the trolls who love to point out how unreliable Jaguars are.
The only similar issue I had was the battery terminal clamp. Because the posts are tapered, it's necessary to have a gap in the clamp so the pinch bolt is actually squeezing the clamp against the post. In my case, the pinch bolt was tight but there was no gap so the pinch bolt wasn't pinching anything. The bolt was tight but the clamp wasn't, and going over bumps gave all kinds of drama on the dash.
