This.... this right here is my issue. This is why i keep saying the whole thing is opinion based. 90% of people on this site say the same thing... "Well $hit... if you want to have fun in this car you have to get the RWD version. No one ever had more fun in an AWD car than a RWD car!"

Overpowered RWD cars aren't fun to me. I had an overpowered 135i and it was simply boring by comparison. I have no interest in drifting, and couldn't give a damn about lap times. I love that feeling when you get thrown back into your seat from the torque and being able to use all the power all the time. You can't use 550 hp in the RWD F Type on the street until you're doing well over the speed limit and that's a significant negative to me. I have much more fun using all that power in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear through the twisties and flooring it away from a stoplight in my AWD car than I ever could in a RWD equivalent. Sure I rarely hit over 75 mph, but i'm enjoying the hell out of it.

This is my opinion, and others (obviously few of them) share it too... so don't just say the only way someone can have fun is in a RWD car. It goes both ways and there will never be a right answer so we should just all stop debating it. Lap times are one thing, but what's more fun is an irrelevant topic.

I think you did not get the "If you don't care so much of any of the above..."?

Because you certainly do, and there is nothing wrong with that

And I did not intend to say that if you do, you can't have fun.

For me, what is most fun and challenging, is the pure fact that I can't just "plant the right foot" and let the car do the rest.

A car that does not allow me to do that without consequenses, is just what I have been looking for, after 23 years of driving sportsbikes on and of track.

But thats what I find fun. Others will find awd more fun, but for other reasons. That was my point.

Here, i'll fix it for you then...

If you are going to use it in winter conditions and want to have fun = awd.

If you are going to use it as an everyday car in any kind of conditions and think that 550hp/680Nm is a bit too much/to risky and want to have fun = awd.

If you don't care so much about any of the above, but where top priority is to have fun (on track as well) = rwd.

But no-one can say what is best/preferable for others. Only you can deceide for youself depending on what YOU want from the car.
I did read the "If you don't care so much of any of the above..." but you clearly insinuated that if all you car about is having fun, you have to get RWD... Get my beef now?

Why do you care so much about opinions of people on the internet!

^ Oh and that was a rhetorical question. Only an idiot would answer it.

You don't even own the car yet. Maybe you ought to wait until you've got one before telling owners how the car is to drive

I think the signature in his post is key....

Ohhh... I want so much to answer your "question", but you ended your comment with a ! instead of a ? so I guess it's not even a question, now is it?

In many ways, this is like the manual vs auto/dual-clutch debate...each side has pros/cons...end of the day, everybody has fun in the car they decided to buy.

I gotta defend "lhoboy" (Lance) here--he's no troll. He's a serious car guy with a lot of engineering knowledge and experience with all things automotive. Just because he's decided to wait for a manual F-Type doesn't mean he doesn't have a very good understanding of the F-Type as well as the physics of car handling. The F-Type is bound by the same physical laws as any other car.

And I agree with him that more often than not it's a driver struggling because the majority aren't in tune with the capabilities and limitations of what they're driving.

Just to be clear, for me, it's all in good fun. Everyone has their own opinion on the car, and everyone has their own opinion of fun. I only mentioned troll because of the way he signed his post...

First sentence was not car specific. Second question ( not a statement) was philosophical bordering on rhetorical.

Only thing based in fact was the signature.

The best part of the F-Type is that they are offering enough variants for all of us to get our groove on.

But the whole time the discussion has been about the car putting the power down, not the driver. The car... itself... does struggle because of its physical limitations. Whether it is fun to test your own skills by driving a difficult to drive car or just drive something that is much more easily handled is irrelevant.

My whole complaint has been that only about 50% of people here recognize differences of opinions. Debate the facts not the opinions.

I remember during Motor Trend Laguna Seca driver's car comparison. Randy Pobst said "If you like car control exercises this is your car."(RWD)

Some may find that fun, most will not.

YMMV

It's difficult not to troll at times when waiting months to take delivery...

Heck, sometimes it's hard not to troll just for the fun of it...

So...

here's a bunny with a pancake on its head!

I got your beef and did not disagree. I see it could be missunderstood.

But I am not shure you got mine - and I am still not shure

The "fact" is that everyone will be able to have fun in the F-type - no matter which model. But we might have fun for different reasons.
