Default Easiest way to improve sound? (No active exhaust).

I searched but I couldn't really find anything on this..

After leasing my base model, I've really regretted not getting one with the active exhaust option. The car seems a bit too quiet imo.

Does anybody know of any easy fixes to this? Since its a lease I'd prefer to avoid invasive/permanent changes.

Active exhaust gives you an option to make it quieter compared to base.

I thought it was the other way around... Jag's website says "active valves which allow the exhaust system to produce a deep, dramatic sound"

Yes, default is quiet mode with baffles closed. When opened, it is about as loud as non-active exhaust.

(I drive with loud button on 95% of the time).

Are you sure? Because I don't think my car is particularly loud at all. It is really subdued.... I've had a few friends also confirm that it could do better with a little bit more noise.

Ah... since he has a Base, does he even have Active Exhaust? Mine doesn't.

I wouldn't mind if my Base was a little louder, but I'd really prefer to change the sound itself. Would going to 200 cats help?

I have the 2017 base coupe. My car does not have the active exhaust button but it does have active exhaust that is automatically activated in dynamic mode around 3-4k. I pulled fuse f43 to leave baffles open all the time and the exhaust is in "loud mode" all the time. It is still not very loud until you push it but it definitely is louder.

Also, if your car is new I heard that the exhaust gets better as your engine breaks in.

The non-dynamic exhaust appears to be louder than the dynamic exhaust (with or without a switch) in its quieter setting on a 2014 car.

Have your friends had their hearing tested recently???

After researching aftermarket exhaust options for the V6, it really seems to me that switching to 200 cell cats from VelocityAP will give us the louder more aggressive tone we're looking for.

I'm not sure if pulling fuse f43 does anything. The base model does not have the active exhaust baffles. I did some research on it and they said that if you check under the car, the active exhaust has 4 pipes going to the muffler, the regular has 2.

I checked under mine and only saw two. So I don't think your car has any baffles to even open/close.

Isn't that a rather major modification? I wouldn't care if I wasn't leasing the car..

At first glance, it seems to be about $1700 for the cats and then you have to re-flash the ECU... which can lead to warranty problems... I don't know. Still looking for an answer.

Can confirm. I had the v8, but I don't think that would make a difference. It got louder after break in. It also got quieter after a software update, then got louder again after a few weeks of driving.

Remove the lining that separates the trunk from the driver area (the cloth piece that lifts up with the trunk), then remove the lower battery tray, completely, so the bottom part of the trunk is exposed. This molded lining has sound dampening material.

Your car will be noticeably louder. It was so loud for me on the freeway I had to put it back in due to drone / headache.

We have a couple of options. Either the 200 cell catted downpipes (requires tuning to be 100% integrated with no CEL's)

Or one of our XPipe exhausts. Would recommend Sport or Supersport for a car with stock cats. Have some in stock

How easy is it to reverse one of those mods?

As easy as it is to put them on! All bolt on, no permanent modification.

Each one is probably 1.5 hour install.

Hmm, interesting..

Do you know if the tune you offer will increase sound at lower revs?

Thanks.

Do you have the active exhaust, but no cabin switch to enable / disable the baffles? I think that's the case as according to the Jaguar website the base coupe comes with active exhaust as standard, but the switch is an option.

If that's the case, pull fuse F43 and you will be happy - noisy all the time, even low down in the rev range.

I will try pulling it, but I'm pretty sure that only the S and above comes with active exhaust as standard. Unless the 2018 models changed something.
