Frank:

My engine cover has been off for 2 years with no negative impacts to the bonnet, but I do have full wire vents on the bonnet.

Take it off and leave it off. No issues here. It’s been known that the engine cover is a heat trap.

Thanks for the quick response. I have the black bonnet vents it’s a rear wheel drive so vents are right over supercharger. I’m taking her on a long trip and want to remove the engine cover so just wanted some encouragement.

I've had my cover off for three years now, also with the black bonnet vents, and zero issues.

Took mine off as soon as I got it home Also tuned and bigger pulley etc., so more heat....No issues to date. I know they typically bake the paint in the booths at ~200 +, and I have used a laser thermometer after hard driving a few times and it does not get to that temp...at least on mine.

Hopefully will stay even cooler now that I installed Methanol injection??

No issues here, been many times on a race track driving it all out. You can hear injectors and pump (ticking noise) a bit more with it off.

I'm sure it's been posted before but could someone post a pic of a V6 with the engine cover off?

The OEM cast surface is quite ugly. You can get it polished. It’s still just a polished turd, but does look better.

Projects 7's come from factory without the dustbin lid on top of the block I believe.

I have PPF on top of the paint on the bonnet and that hasn't complained after 5 years of hot/cold cycles.

I think I remember reading the SVR also comes without the plastic engine cover.

I removed my cover soon after buying it three years ago, no issues with the paint being affected by engine heat

Interestingly(?), the first x100 XKRs didn't have white as a paint option as Jaguar thought the extra heat might discolour it. They soon gave up that idea.

More interestingly (?) - Save a few dollars this Christmas and present the cover to the kids as a present.
Turn it upside down and attach a bit of string to the front...Et Voila!

Look Santa has bought you Jaguars new sledge (toboggan/sled/sleigh) . Cost an absolute mint

Yes - SVR comes without the plastic engine cover too

In fact the dealer service history for mine has the dealer querying why no engine cover in the pre delivery inspection. And Jag UK had to explain why...

I'm sure someone took the temps and posted them, it showed less heat in the engine bay without the cover. Anyway, mine has pulley and tune and we get to the high 30's celsius in summer, no problems here with no cover

C'mon Bruce, high 30's, how weak is that???
It gets to the mid 40's here in Adelaide in summer and I too have had zero problems with the engine cover removed.
