Couldn't agree more. I feel safer on the track than the freeway, better drivers and safety gear. Plus, I'm just not willing to get as close to the limit on the street where you never know what lurks even on roads you know well. Modern track days are well run and safe with sessions for beginners thru racers.. I like events run by Speed Ventures in So Cal. You can get track insurance at reasonable rates thru Hagerty and others. Find tracks like Chuckwalla or Buttonwillow where there are no walls or other hard barriers near the track.
