So I just purchased this F-types and wonder if anyone has experience removing and reinstall the drip moldings? id like to get them back to chrome, also ill do the side vents and front grill. Really the grill and vents seem easy but the drip molding around the door and windows scares me a little... I looked through the service manual for an hour and couldn't find out how it gets done...I may just contact a body shop to remove and reinstall if this is too much of a hassle. Also I will be selling the blacked pieces once the work is complete so feel free to PM in advance if interested.
Especially if you think you can recoup value for the black parts, I would go for the body shop approach.
Problem is that even the body shop has probably never done this job before, so it could end up being a learning experience for them also.
You might be better off getting some " racing stripes" to brighten it up, or wrapping parts with reflective film.
Both approaches would be easily reversible if you or a future owner decided to back to black.
Having those parts wrapped in vinyl might be a cheaper & quicker way to go with less risk, if you are into that. Vinyl requires some maintenance (hand wash only, clean it promptly) but you have a black car so you should already be doing that.
A good vinyl installer can do all of those on the car without removing anything.
