F-Type R Spark Plug / Coil Change DIY
Hi Group...
As I mentioned in my previous threads and have done on other items, I took some photos and documented the Spark Plug Change Process I just completed, and put them in my DIY format. I have attached the process here.
As always, these are created in the spirit of helping others. If you have a better way of doing it, knock yourself out...this is simply what worked for me. Hope this is helpful for those considering doing it.
It is NOT a piece of cake but is not that difficult, and most can do it with patience and making some tools, as I did
I have tested the car afterwards and it runs great! So ....Why am I changing my plugs with such low miles?? I put a Lower Crank Pulley and I am getting a VAP Stage II Tune, and wanted to use the NGK Iridiums that are 1 range cooler and gapped down to .036 to accommodate and optimize that set up.
Take care

Good write up. This tool set makes it much easier to remove and replace coil fixing bolts.

Nice write-up, I wish I had this a week ago!
I ended up using many of the same tools, although that magnetic extension you have looks nifty. I simply used needle nose pliers to finish opening two of the driver's side coil screws that were closest to the body.
Any tips on putting the rubber cover back on the driver's side? It's ridiculously tight there and I was hesitant to force it to avoid breaking any of the plastic bits. I suspect there must be a proper technique for sliding it below the ignition coils.

Best advice...Do the opposite of what I showed in the removal illustration. What I found worked best as to grab the end pointing towards the windshield, and pull it down and back (push it down the side of the engine so it is too low at first). Then the thicker parts at the bottom clear the sides easier.....You can pull very hard towards the windshield/firewall direction...I used the Oil filler cap as a guide. Once I had it back far enough for the oil cap to fit you know you are about right, There is a hole on the rubber shield and a guide pin sticking out below the oil cap and a little farther back...You can pull and align to that, then push it onto that pin, then pull back over the oil cap and put the cap on...Then just tug a bit all over until it sits right. Seems like what adjusting a girdle would be like?? It is not a real clean process, and there are no good instructions...Other than the ones I just gave...hahaBest of luck!

Here is a DIY video I made on this job, I found this guide after I had finished the install and recording process so it doesn’t follow this thread exactly, but it may be a good resource in conjunction with the PDF file listed in this thread. Good luck.
