So somewhere from 17mm and up seems to be the sweet spot without grinding.

Too far up and you may be grinding your wheel arches.

Within reason

As @Unhingd mentioned before, possible issues with 20mm spacers.

That was someone else. I wouldn't go over 17mm. I know for a fact that you will rub the fender at 20mm with 295 tires.

So far so good at 18mm, but we'll see after the VAP springs are fitted.
Will have the spacers shaved back if need be.
VAP springs are arriving this week through Scuderia Autoart.

So Bonz, what was the result of this? Gyrodones + 18mm spacers + VAP springs? Any rubbing issues? Any other feedback/lessons learned? Thanks!

In the end im sitting with VAP springs and 15mm spacers with the OEM studs shaved down 2-3mm.
Zero rubbing issues...its running like a dream and sits exactly how it should imo.

Gotcha, looks good!

What were the issues with the 18mm spacers?

From my research it appears about 50/50 on whether 17mm spacers require bolt grinding with the gryodynes. So I’m just curious if your 18mm required grinding or not, and also if the 18mm had any rubbing with the springs.

Nice. That looks great!

So, what happened to the 18mm spacers? Did you have to grind down the bolts with them? And were there any rubbing issues on the springs? From my research, it appears that there is basically an even 50/50% split on reports of whether the 17mm spacers require grinding or not.

For some reason, my mobile is acting up, so I apologize in advance if two other similar posts to this one pop up soon...

That looks real nice Bonz. Well done!

My question is: what happened when you had the 18mm spacers? Any rubbing issues? And no grinding required? Reason I ask is because the forum seems to be split about 50/50% (from my research) on whether or not grinding will be required with 17mm spacers and the gyrodynes. Since I am pursuing the same path, wanted to see if you had experienced anything to get higher fidelity data on this. If 17mm spacers truly alleviate the need to grind the studs, that would be my choice. Thanks!

Yeah i was hoping for the same thing at 18mm. When it came to the drop 18mm was 100% going to rub. 17mm im not sure, chances are low. 16mm is a maybe... In saying that though, at 16mm you will have to cut the studs anyway. The stud pockets for the gyrodones arent deep enough.

Best thing you can do is trial and error...but be careful. Ive heard of some owners guards creasing due to rubbing.

Just pitching in here, in hopes of helping with some pics for those considering. I went with 15 MM MotorSport Adapter/Spacers (very good quality, though slooooow to ship). For the studs, they each have a "dimple" in the end that is about the amount you need to grind...So just grind until they are smooth and you have about 2MM. I found an angle grinder with an abrasive wheel works fast and easy! The 15 MM work out to just perfectly flush on the stock Gyrodyne wheels with 255/295s. Have not lowered yet...Considering Eibach, as I have used them on my Porsches and they work well...Also the kit is .6" front and 1.0" rear, so should flatten the car out....Still thinking on that one as I have been modding like a drunk monkey and need to slow down

Pics attached for context. Hope they help....

Thanks for all of the posts that helped me get what I needed to get started. Appreciate the group!

DC

Anyone know where to purchase ET flat seat lug nuts to yield enough turns for 12mm spacers? Searching eBay for "M12x1.5 ET lug washer/flat seat / mag seat" etc. shows nuts for Lexus, Tacoma etc. but I can't tell which if any have more threads than OEM Jaguar.

Is this stock threads length?

Would something like these work?

I’d like to add these 12mm hubcentric spacers front and rear to my R coupe, stock 20 Girodynes. (Prefer spacers over adapters to avoid grinding threads, given the needed ET nuts exist) Any pointers greatly appreciated.

The stock nuts and the first ones you list won't work with 12 mm spacers, the shanks are too short and you will get only a couple of turns on at most.
But those long shank ones you list second should work with 12 mm spacers, the only problem is they are 13/16" hex while OEM Jag nuts are 19 mm hex.
Just means you will need to get a 13/16" hex socket, no biggie.

Thanks OzXFR.

Will check the OEM washers diameter as the washer diams in these aftermarket 1 inch long shank sets are supposedly ~2mm smaller.

if things measure out will let everyone know the results. Hopefully a viable alternative to adapters.

Looks great! Question for you - Do you have flares on the front wheel arches like the rear ones? Hard to tell in the pics, but looks like the wheel has a small black flare like the rears?
If so, where do you get them?

Thanks,
DC

Therock88 your very observant, yes I have wheel arch protectors on the rear of the front wheel arches, actually they are for the rear of the xkr but fit the front of the ftype spot on, you have to order clips to hold them also, they protect the side sills of the car and look OEM got from Britcar UK below is the parts
