Default F-Type Start Up Tapping

Hi, Wonder if anyone can help try and diagnose what may be the issue with my F-Type. When starting from cold, it sounds very 'tappety', until it warms up, I have tried adding an oil additive but made no difference. Any ideas at all? Its a 2014 F-TypeS, just over 50k miles, always serviced and maintained. Thanks

I would be careful with oil additives, many are based on Voodoo science and from what I have read these engines are sensitive to oil viscosity. You wouldn’t want to damage other parts of the engine trying to mask a single component with excessive tolerance. Not saying this is your issue but magic fixes in a bottle for mechanical problems are generally a bad idea.

Aren't common cold-engine noises a result of the supercharger coupling?

I've gone through 2 AJ133s and both of them were 'tappety' on cold start. One had the old SC coupling, the other had the redesign. I think the condition is pretty common to most if not all of these engines. 5.0 Ford folks have complained about this 'feature' on the Coyote motor which seems to affect the vast majority. Some folks say additives have helped 'like Ceratec'. I haven't found them to remedy the issue on the Jag.

Just let the engine warm up thoroughly before you push it.

Yes, these engines are noisy when cold.
