This. One day I will commission the build of my very own Christine. Hard to find even just a shell in decent shape nowadays. Definitely a bucket list car.

I named my first car. I don't remember why, but I hadn't named any since. Something about the Jag takes me back to being that kid again.

I suppose I'm not the norm, but I'm use to that. I'm well on the wrong side of 70, and just bought my second F-Type this week. This time I got a "R" AWD because my old "S" wasn't fast enough. I might add that in the last ten or twelve years, I've owned four Corvettes, two AMG's, one Z4 M Sport, and now two F-Types. Last year I was clocked at 159 MPH in my AMG and two years earlier, 164 in my Z06. Both were at a track.

I'm a great believer in "You have to grow old, but no law says you have to grow up".

I detect a wry political reference but I won't go there.

Cheers,

Lance, I am surprised by your lack of faith in this forum, particularly given your cerebral-ness and some of our fellow members I met in Maine. We may be a tad more cerebral than some of the others. Which forum (brand) would have the highest level of cerebal-ness if not our humble group?

Vince, just teasing, of course. There is no doubt this marque should attract the most sophisticated members of society. (Good taste, sense of value, educated choice) No lemmings here.

No politics implied, but I get your point. No, I was only referring to my own life choices with maybe some some unsolicited input from my ex-wife.

Lance, a bit of mutual jesting. Jay's busy, so filling in.

You are never too old to be young at heart, I think somebody said that once..

Still, closer to the 50 than I am to the 30, but you can't fit kids in the back of an F-Type and although I liked the XK, I don't think I would have bought one, was much more of a 911 kinda guy in my day (before the kids)..

However, out of all the go karts in my price range (not maturity range), I am 1,000,000% sure that the F-Type is the one to have. For whatever reason (poor taste on other people's part mostly I reckon), they are rare, look amazing, turn heads (nobody turns their head for a Boxster any more) and sound amazing to boot..

Definitely only for youngsters (of any age). Most kids less than half my age are too old and stodgy to drive anything like this.

I think that's my problem with the F-Type. They may sound amazing but on my street heads will turn because of the loud exhaust; also I'm afraid the loud pops and burps may get old for me after a while.

If only the XK had the interior of the F-Type!

The day to day truth of it is that around town, the sound is not that loud. Not bad at all. Well, unless you want to

That'll never happen! I find they get more and more addictive, I'm 25 in my head, and 68 out of it.

The problem is that the valves open wide over 4000rpm. I hardly ever shift the MT under that.

EXACTLY!
There is always going to one one or two younger people who have either been fortunate to have been born into money or landed a 6-figure job out of college but for the most part very VERY few low or mid twenties drivers would be able to afford an F-Type so that is part of the reason you don't see these cars being "riced-out"... thank god

My 2012 X5 Diesel ski machine is named "Black Betty" after the song.

The State-issued DMV tag TPZ came with my R so I logically call her "Tipsy"

Ha, mid twenties, I remember that!

Signal Yellow Ford Escort MKII Mexico (the ONLY car ever made that looks good in yellow), nothing subtle about it at ALL... My F reminds me a lot of that car...

Apparently they are worth some money nowadays, whodathunkit... Unfortunately mine developed an 'Electrical' problem and went up in flames outside a police station in Aviemore, long walk home...

53 and considered one briefly, my son is 15 and loved the look of both, even test drove an F and didn't much like it

But in my 2014 XK Dynamic R (purchased last week) I can get a full sized 22kg piece of hold luggage in the boot/trunk along with both pieces of hand luggage, on the rear seats I can get another large piece of luggage (with seats suitably protected) and the other seat for a dog!

This is what I chose:

My mind was made up for me when driving behind an AWD F that lost the back end at low speed in what I would call moderately moist 20c conditions, yes probs poor tyre choice but just soured it for me I've had MPS4s's fitted to my new ride and the transformation in drive/handling over the stock P zero's is amazing

My only mods are

1) Black Vulcan RS alloys (arrived today)

2) Black bonnet vents...with bodyshop

3) Wrapping mirrors in carbon effect 4D stuff

4) Removing front number plate and having a stick-on plate with the original holes filled/sprayed

Are you sure it was AWD? Mine is very sure footed, much more so than my previous 2010 XKR.

^^ Agreed. I drove my AWD in some pretty wet conditions the other day, but I had it in in climate weather mode.
