Default Flat Tire?

It just dawned on me - and, no, I don't have one - but has anyone had a flat tire with their F-Type? And do those with convertibles carry a spare in the trunk/boot? Just curious. I can't remember the last time I had any flat on any car....which is probably why I never considered a spare for my F-Type.

Best regards,
Jay

No spare. It came with the inflation kit instead. I keep my fingers crossed at all times. The optional spare would completely fill the trunk, leaving room for a toothbrush in the glove box and a cup of coffee in the cup holder.

Default spare

I did get the spare for that very reason. If you are anywhere where dealer support isn't arounfd the corner you are screwed- especially if it happens on a Friday night. road side will flatbed you to a dealership (nowhere else) if goop does not work. then youll need to wait for the dealer service to open on a Monday

Fortunately, I'm covered since I have two spares for the front and two for the back. When I upgraded to 20" wheels/tires, I kept my OEM 18's. I'll just have the car flatbedded home. Of course I may have to change all 4 if a new tire is not readily available, but I can do that in about 45 minutes.

Well I had that nail from a couple months ago but it held enough air to drive a few miles to get home and to get to the shop after refilling it.

If you hope to have the tire repaired don't use the goop at any cost. A lot of shops won't bother repairing if a tire has had good in it. Might as well use the roadside assistance and flatbed it at that point.

This is my second car with no spare, seems to be pretty standard now with these types of cars. Only time it makes me nervous is on long road trips.

Have had a few nails in the last 2 cars without spare. Luckily always had enough air to get to gas station to fill up and then back to tire shop or dealer for a patch. Last one was in my R and was too close to the sidewall so I had to replace tire. Thank you to my wheel-tire coverage for my $550 new tire.

I have a V8s convertible and after being stranded with a broken valve stem on my first F-Type I went ahead and ordered a spare this time.

Got to use it already too. Looks ridiculous on, but not as ridiculous as standing around waiting for a ramp truck. There is enough room with the spare for a four inch thick briefcase in the trunk.

I been told by one dealer that's there no point in ordering the spare donut as the wheel/tire off the car won't fit in the trunk?

This is 4th car without spare. Found out about 1st when I got 2 flats after hitting a piece of aluminum. Paid to have car towed to tire store rather than dealer. Would like to have spare be a consideration during design process. Doubt Jag dealer will price guarantee tires.

Default Rim

Keep a box cutter gloves and a plastic bag in the car. If the tire is still good will fit in passenger seat. If not cut it off the rim which will then fit in boot

Yes, same here - had the nail in tire experience a month ago, but fortunately it was repairable. I was nervous heading to the track last week, as its 270km from where I live, but fortunately there were no issues.

Given most of us have no spare, it would be REALLY nice if the monitoring system would show the pressure values and not just a low indicator. On my way to the dealer yesterday, the warning lamp came on about 5 miles into the 20 mile trip. There's help at the end (if I can make it), and no great place to pull over at the moment.

In my old TL-S, it was helpful to see when the pressure was just a few pounds off, but steady, so it could wait - vs - when I ran over a spike and could watch the screen counting down. Ironically, it was on the same 2-lane road, but I could monitor the pressure loss while limping to the next crossroads.

Yeah me too, I went to a half mile drag event. Did about 25 150mph runs, no issues with the plugged/patched tire.

Maybe something changed for the 2016, but I can see the actual tire pressure from the TPS system...

Me too. That's when I saw the over-inflated values from the factory.

Yeah you can see the pressures as long as you don't start the car, just turn on the accessories, then go into the tire pressure menu.

Mine came with the spare but in the convertible it is just not practical so it sits under my house. It also came with the compressor and goop. They also tell me that our roadside assistance includes the assistance guy bringing you a spare and taking the flat tyre away and returning it to you repaired.

I also realised that there is little point in having the spare as even if you take the flat off and replace with the spare there is nowhere you can put the flat tyre so you would pretty mcc have to abandon it by the road.

I've had past bad experiences with low-profile tires; so I ordered the spare tire. I found that when you order the spare, the compressor and patch kit is automatically deleted, so I went ahead and ordered that too. Although I'd be reluctant to goop up the tire.

I like RIMs suggestion of carrying box cutter, gloves and a plastic bag. Easily stowed in the "smugglers box" under the trunk.

My wife didn't want me to get the convertible due to the lack of trunk space compared to the coupe. Clever dealer man showed her both boots, side-by-side and she said "you have to buy the coupe" so I did. Wife now amused that I filled the boot of the coupe with the spare tire.
