What a crock huh...the north sea right there...pumping oil, and you getting the perverbial shaft.....here in the US, it depends on the state tax that varies the price so much

Last fillup for me was $59.86 and 16.182 gal. of California blend 91 AKI.

I think I have paid up to what translated to $14/gal on a motorcycle trip in Europe, but I try to not look when I'm on vacation. No gas, no riding, so it's just part of the price of admission to the amusement park that is the Alps, the Pyrenees, etc.

Just to give you an idea of US costs since you only look at gas prices...

Living in Connecticut USA means $41,000 in house property tax a year
The F-Type costs $3600 of property taxes a year
The F-Type costs $1300 in insurance a year
The F-Type registration is about $200.00
The gas this morning was $3.61/gal

Do you still think that it's so much better?

Move to Texas -

Property tax house 3800 sq ft $9500/year
F-Type property tax $0/year
F-Type Comprehensive insurance $600/year
F-Type Registration $75/year
Premium Gas $2.45 /gallon

Shitty roads and drivers though.

The problem is, they only sell Petrol in the UK. Gasoline, the fuel of choice here in the US, is much cheaper.

Did you forget the /sarc tag?
Coz there is no difference other than the name.

I already wanted to do that a few years back so I purchased a home in Boerne TX, I have been renting it since. My youngest kids will enter High School this year, summer is our move time. TX also rarely receives snow like CT and unlike here where, you are forced in the house for 5 months when super cold... You are smart there

With very efficient space saving, schedule for the bathroom and a hotplate rather than a full blown kitchen. There are some amazing compact sleeping bags too

Given that I live in Quebec and can only drive my car 6 months and still pay for 12, you have it pretty good.
I don't see how the home property tax is relevant though. CT tax is 2.02% so that means your house is evaluated at $2,029,702. That is a discretionary number and irrelevant here, you could be living in a 500k home or a 10M home. You still pay less than 1$ a litre for gas, actually closer to $0.96. Conversely, we pay $1.29 because Canada imports 85% of its gas from the US. Why? Our inability to invest in our infrastructure. Registration for my F-Type was closer to 600$ because there is an extra tax on every cylinder above 4. Insurance pretty similar but I cancel it for 6 months in winter during storage.

Prop 13 gave us Californian's a good property tax at 1% of the sale price, in addition to + - .25% for bond measures etc. It does increase up to 2% annually though. I bought mine at pre prop 13 and have greatly appreciated the program. Without it, I would have had to sell many decades ago since the taxes would have forced me to do so.

I live in Nevada and the fuel prices very by county. The county I live in has the most expensive. I can drive 15 miles and save over 30 cents a gallon for gas.. But still glad I live in the united states when it comes to gas prices.
