I've had a few problems with those redneck 1000 hp diesel 11 second rigs in the past. You think there is no way a truck can keep up at 100 mph+, but they just keep coming! In this situation with no traffic, I think whatever speed was required was reasonable. Especially on the backroads with no traffic....better than an AR-15 pointed in your direction.

While I've experienced a similar event, at least I have a little traffic in the area. I bounced your situation off of an acquaintance of mine with an extensive law enforcement background. He said--

"Well, that can be scary because you have your good truckers (usually the ones with a "How is My Driving?" sticker on the side), the decent ones (who for the most part go with the program), and there are the rogues (usually independents with jacked up trucks, flags, etc.). Those guys are nuts and usually just want to f___k with people. I like staying behind these guys. For one, you can turn around fast and they can't. If it's in the middle of nowhere, I'd say it's time to take a food break for an hour and let him get far away (assuming you're behind him). The cop thing isn't a bad idea if you have a good description and a plate. But, that might be difficult to do (get close) since most of them carry guns and you never know who is amped up or not (on drugs). Also, cell signals might not work out in the boonies...."

- Roll Bars
- LOUD exhaust
- Gun Rack
- lots of mud

No problem. I took my friend's commentary to be directed not at truckers at all, but to the last category (the "rogue" pickup), its attributes of which I think you described quite well. ("More lights on it than my house." Nice one.)

Yeah, and the whole "call the cops" thing is ridiculous IMO. That call would be such a low priority that if they did "F" with you the damage is done and over and they are long gone way before the Po Po gets there. I can just hear it: 911 dispatcher to cops "some rich guy in a Jaguar is being followed too closely by a local truck and feeling threatened" "Any available units to please assess"....radio silence...for a long time. Just floor it and lose the losers.
