Default Giving up F-type for wife's sake...but need opinions

My wife has always wanted a nice SUV and I am strongly considering trading my F-type (which is paid for) in order for here to get a 2014 or 2015 Range Rover Sport. I used my business to pay for my F-type and I would then want to replace it with another sports car, which I would again pay through my business. I would really miss my F-type, but I'm sure I would get another again down the line.

If this trade goes through, the question is now what? I think I would want to try a new model for the sake of something different besides getting a 2015 or 2016 F-type. Price point would ideally be no higher than 100k since I am not trying to suffocate myself in car payments:-) With this in mind, it seems like the 2015 Z06 and 2015 Cayman GTS are the contenders.

I have not driven the new Vette and have been a passenger in a 2014 Cayman S. These two cars are on 2 different spectrums with very similar price points. I could go into more detail of the pros and cons, but when it comes down to it, I want something unique, with fantastic sound. The GTS being probably the last Cayman with a flat 6 engine before they turn to the turbo 4's is appealing. I would choose either the Laguna Blue for the ZO^ or Sapphire Blue for the GTS and have the calipers powdercoated lime green with black wheels.

Question: Which of the two would you choose, or, what other make/model under 100k would you suggest?

i just sold my cayman for my new F-type R. nothing bad to say about the cayman. but if you are needing to make the trade you talk about today...go for the Cayman GT4 that is coming out...no question. that thing looks awesome & will sound great (but not f-type r, great...)

A). Why don't you buy the RRS for your business and then let your wife drive it while you drive the F-Type?

B) in the US surely you can buy another F-Type for about the $100k mark why would you buy a Cayman over another f-type?

Or keep the F-Type and get her a reasonable SUV, ie Ford Edge/Explorer. It will also last longer than a RR/LR. A sporty SUV is an oxymoron.

My 2 cents

Back to what the OP asked. The Cayman will be boring after the F Type. It is the better car on more technical/twisty roads but unless you are past 4,500 rpm it is very boring, very clinical. I owned a Cayman S turbo charged, a 997 turbo and a Boxster Spyder RS60 at the same time, big fan and they are great cars but unless you push them they are just a VW. Quiet, great shifting, no low end power, great fuel economy, seats are thin and after 3 hours not very comfortable. What the Cayman has is great storage, two trunks and the shelf on top of the engine bay.
I have not driven the new Corvette, my feeling the power and performance will be very similar but with the Corvette being just that much quicker.
Beyond that I do not know what you are looking for, the typical other offenders in that price category are M3, C63, GTR, etc

I'm struggling a little to understand the logic behind selling one car only to replace it with one at broadly similar cost???

I am happy to report that once I got home tonight, I realized how ridiculous my thoughts were earlier today and this posting. Sat down with wifey and told her the F-type will be staying put and that a new Range Rover is not an option. She agrees and now she can look into either a 2012 RRS or a 2013 XJ (each @ 49K) or a 2013 XF for @ 10k less.
Can I get my man card back?

Now my greedy self is wondering is the '15 Z06 or the Cayman would make a better hypothetical stablemate to the F-type!

Now you're talking! I think the Cayman would be a redundant purchase considering you have your F. The Z06 on the other hand...will be batshit crazy. I've had my order down for a while now I'm hoping for a mid summer delivery.

My choice would be the ZO6. Huge amounts of power/torque, great electronics, nice interior and handling that puts most others to shame. It is a GT1 race car for the streets.

There is a really good chance that I will go that way when my XJL lease expires in 5 months. I'll call some dealers next week to see about the ordering/delivery time frames. Might worth the wait for the 2016 models...

Now that you've reestablished your... uh... manhood, you can get her what she wants.

Happy to post that she is all set now with a 2010 RRS, in great condition and for a good price.
