Has Anyone Entered Their Car into a Car Show?
I just registered my F-Type R into a show this weekend. They were going to put my car into the exotic segment, but because I was so late registering (it's Saturday), I'm in the late registrants lot. What the heck - I'm still in.
My 'R' won first place for the driven class at the San Diego Jaguar Concours d'Elegance ealier this year. It is fun. I had my prev Ferrari F355 in quite a few shows and it brought in some 1st and 2nd places.
When I dabbled in classic cars, I entered several of mine and almost always walked away with some worthless hardware. I quit doing it in short order because sitting around all day and answering silly questions is more boring than watching paint dry.
Love 'em. My background is Classic cars and bikes.
We've been to many multi-manufacturer shows throughout the summer and ended up in all sorts of areas. They weren't sure of which category we should be in.
Does't really matter at the end of the day, half the fun is driving to the show, prepping the car and looking at what else is on display, and indulging in the obligatory afternoon teas on the lawn!
Recently did some shows with the JEC (Jaguar Enthusiasts Club) which is very large here in the UK. They cater mainly for SS cars through to XK (classic) so the F is a bit lost in that lot.
We joined the XK and F Type Enthusiasts club shows, and they were brilliant. 140 odd XK's and at least 10 F's in various guises at the International Museum of Transport in Beaulieu.
Won "Best F-Type" in the "show and Shine" after a lot of prepping, there was some serious contenders and of course none more than 3 years old!
Good days, good fun...can't wait 'till next summer....if we have one ;-)

I've entered my F Type in a few cars shows and it gets A LOT of attention. They are fun to do from time to time but like Foosh said be prepared to answer a lot of questions if your sitting by your car.
Entered into a strictly super car show with Lambos, Mclaren, Ferrari, etc as main competition. Didn't win anything but the car, be it that it's so different, got a lot of attention from everyone. Lambo guys were even saying "I bet that's one of the best sounding cars here." Feels good when there's mutual respect when I'm a lover of pretty much all exotics.
